espy's first headline only says the league is looking into it; you get the explanation further down

Nice work, Taylor. Fugging bozo.
I like how the Cincy reporter just causally tossed out the “video taping their play calls” hand grenade when that’s apparently the furthest thing truth.
And that reporters name.... Tom Jomase from the Cincinnati Herald.

Because the meatheads across the league, both on and off the field, have bought into a narrative whereby it is impossible that one team could be so successful where they have failed for 20 years.
Cinci has been SPECTACULARLY successful in failing for 20 years. So there's that. 0-7 since, er, 1990...

Talk about a HUGE nothingburger. Never boring being a Pats fan though!

Last time Cincy has a taping scandal it was when they drafted a RB who punched a woman on camera.

Just sayin’.

Somewhere
I was sincerely worried that when I heard a bunch of folks talking about the Patriots that they had re-signed Antonio Brown.

I thought neither the offense nor defense uses hand signals anymore. But perhaps that memo about the green dot never got to the Bengals coaching staff?

This appears to be nothing ... but to not tell the Bengals, or the league, what was happening was dumb. If the league security guy knew in advance, it would have been over with

Oh for fuck's sake. Even if they did the absolute worst version of what they're being ham-fistedly innuendo-ly accused of, it isn't even against any rule. They're just reading down a row of their "Patriots are cheaters" bingo card and slapping it on a headline.

The Patriots may have gotten a look at something that thousands of people can openly see, and also recorded it from a legal location using technology that isn't forbidden. CHHEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAATTTTTTTTTEEEERRRRRRRRRRRRRSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No, that's either the responsibility of the Browns (who were hosting), or the league. Not the Patriots. The Bengals are just dumb.

"This, as I’m told, is a misunderstanding."

OK Mark Daniels, but so was last time around this particular Nonsense Merry-go-round. And we all know how that ended. Whiplash, make-believe, and a bunch of crying children.

Russini is a tweet away from Mortensen territory.

Framing in tweets is everything, and the charitable way of putting it is she’s inviting inferences adverse to the Pats in every tweet.

A quick perusal of the tweet responses shows how ham-fisted Roger was in destroying the Spygate videos. Nobody knows, and I don't blame them, that Roger showed those recordings to the media and how mundane they were.

If the league is smart this time they will release the videos. Actually I bet they won’t so that everyone will continue to think the Pats cheat.

Won't the league will release them during the next Do Your Job segment? Question is whether that it is before or after the Pats get the 32nd pick of the draft taken away.

The league really ought to make a quick statement. They have the tapes, it shouldn’t be too difficult to say one way or the other.

In due time. Just like when the Pats were asking them to debunk the Mort tweet and the league basically replied just wait until the Wells report.

Hasn't Glazer always pointed out that he has the spygate tapes of what was shown?

I swear it's Glazer or someone like him has mentioned having them.

Problem is, the same people that were marching down the Giants sideline pumping their fists during SB 42, and disgracing the most successful franchise in the league over a couple psi in a football still work there.

He said he saw them before they were destroyed and it was more of what was shown at the PC.

Dean Blandino's kid goes to a local school; a couple years ago he went into the school, gave a speech and gave all the kids jets hats. Which is wild to me -- we're in the tristate area so there are some local Jets fans but I was surpised that a league official would appear to root for one particular team.

What is the penalty for taping non-existent signals?
The same as the penalty for anything else: Whatever Roger Goodell decides it should be. There are no rules, there is only Commish.

That depends, does the one particular team happen to also be the same team as the one that the commissioner once interned for? If so then it's fine.

Just to be safe, anytime the Patriots film anything, the first two or three minutes should just be footage of an NFL player beating the shit out of someone. That way they know that the league won't ever obtain it.

The worst part about this is most people around the country will just assume they were cheating and not even care about the actual reporting. Already had a Steeler fan come into my office and razz me about it. “Caught cheating again” blah blah blah. F yourself.
Good. I hope they do. The answer to your friend is "yes. You only know the half of it. steelers should learn to cheat better." Conversation over.
