That's interesting. I thought he was held in fairly high regard. I am curious what prompted this given the timing.
Atkinson has the reputation as a rebuild specialist and not a coach who can win with talent. Just like players, when a coach is labeled it is difficult to break past your own reputation. He will have a job by training camp for certain.

Kyrie said the same shit about Stevens.

The Pelicans should sign him after the season. Gentry stinks.

This may be correct but why shoot him now heading into the playoffs? Its not like they are underperforming given the talent they currently have on the court.

The Nets need an ISO ball coach anyway. Kyrie is not going to be part of running an offense. And that’s OK (sorta). They were smart to acknowledge it and I hope KA is OK with it and lands a good situation.

When you lose your team you lose your team. I actually give Marks a ton of credit for not allowing the situation to worsen.

Marquese "Poor Man's TL" Chriss: 13 pts (6-9 fg), 10 reb, 8 ast, +12 (plus the game-sealing block)
Eric "Poor Man's Granite" Paschall: 23 pts (8-12 fg), 3 reb, 6 ast, +8

Pretty typical lines for those two over the last month, actually.

Never mind that. Who the heck is Mychal Mulder who led the team with +15 and was third in minutes with 31?

Another 76ers loss as we move closer to a first round matchup with them.
After Harrus and Horford, the Sixers played Mike Scott for 34 minuts, shake Milton for 29, Glenn Robinson VII For 28, Korkmaz for 24, Nero for 16, and then Burks and Thybulle. It's not like they are running perennial All-Stars out there.

Surprised you didn't mention Bender (poor man's Brad Sellers) who was 4-4 and 2-2 from 3P land.

I mean...at this point, Horford is physically cooked, Harris has no confidence, Simmons may not even be back for the first round...I don't know that Philly is even a bad matchup.

Their size is still potentially pretty rough, and in the upper middle class of the EC (Toronto, Boston, Philly, Indy, Miami) I'd buy an argument gives them the highest ceiling in the playoffs. Unless I knew Simmons and/or Embiid was going to miss round 1, I'd much rather play Indy or Miami.

Miami isn't happening at this point, so it's Philly vs. Indy. I can see an argument either way tbh. Philly's size isn't nearly as scary now that Horford has stopped being able to move. I agree that if Simmons and Embiid are both back at full strength I'd want Indy, but we'll see whether that happens. Indy still has time to figure it out with Oladipo, which could make them pretty annoying.

Harris’ confidence is completely shot following his last 5 games averaging 28ppg on 52% shooting including 43% behind the arc. C’mon man.

Yeah, my bad, hadn’t followed him closely since Embiid went out. I stand by Horford being washed though.

Watching Ballmer during this LA Derby is mesmerizing. His energy level is off the charts.

Remember when people were saying Bradley couldn't defend anymore? His effort is a case study for metrics not factoring in what a losing culture can do to a player.

Marcus Morris has already bricked five shots for the Clippers.

Obviously anyone can miss some shots, but he clearly still thinks Mook isos are the best option with Kawhi and PG and LouWill out there.

Yeah he isn’t just clanging open threes; he is taking guys off the dribble and shooting awkward 18 footers.

He’s really one of the least self-aware players in the league. He would be so much wealthier if he just played defense, attacked closeouts, and hit 3s.

Could you expand a bit on what you mean?

Buy all my Avery Bradley stock, HRB. He's an awful basketball player and I'm loving him going off today.

Keep relying on Avery Bradley. That's definitely a winning formula in the playoffs vs the Clipps. I'll lose this regular season battle a 100 times for the false sense of confidence in May

The other thing that is really apparent in these 3 games they've played is AD has ZERO muscle. The clipps have no issue muscling him around with smaller guys

I always thought the talk around the Clippers needing to get bigger to bang with the Lakers was stupid. People who think Harrell is too small clearly haven’t seen him play.

I like Harrell a lot and he had a good game, but he was clearly outplayed by AD. If the Clippers had "no problem" muscling AD around, how did he end up with 30 points, 8 boards, a +12, and taking two key charges?

I'm not following the analysis here -- did you guys watch a different game?

The guys Harrell matches up with are Howard and McGee -- credit to Vogel for recognizing that and playing them 12 and 7 minutes each.

I am not saying Davis is a bad player; but he isn’t a natural post-up guy and he isn’t going to brute around other big men. His skills are in his face-up game, his quickness and length and touch. He is a very, very good player but he isn’t a strongman the way Embiid, or even really LeBron.

I felt about this game the way I felt about how LA beat Milwaukee. In the Milwaukee game, Middleton and Bledsoe really struggled. In this game, the Clippers got very little offensively from Williams, Beverly and Morris. Any one of those guys have an average shooting night and the Lakers lose.

Bradley made his shots tonight, and to beat good teams in a playoff series they are going to need one of Bradley/Green/Pope/Morris/Kuzma to score 20+, even if James and Davis go off.

Did you miss the 4th quarter against the Bucks Friday night? AD led them to the win going right at Giannis, Lopez & Co.

Doc Rivers after the game: “I thought they were the more physical team tonight" (they=the Lakers)
On what planet was AD getting out-muscled?

With the Cavs’ 132-129 OT win over the Spurs last night, their record since Beilein resigned is 5-5. Small sample size and all that but that includes wins over Denver, Philly, and Miami.

Murray just made a poster in Denver. I don’t have a video, but it was amazing. Over some G League guy I didn’t recognize (Wilson?)

Edit: Ended up being called an offensive foul.

Scary Terry going off for 40 against the Hawks. Good one in Double OT.
If Rozier hadn't shown himself to be a jerk last year, he would've been a good guy to keep. He's having a nice year and shooting about 41% from three. Of course it would have meant no Kemba.

Yeah, I don't know that he's so much a jerk, it's just that unfortunately he's somewhat delusional as to what his best role is as a player. He found a team who agreed with that delusion though, so you can't really argue with his approach. Getting $57M guaranteed as a backup PG drafted #16 is a 99th percentile outcome, financially speaking.

He doesn't get paid that if he decides to be athletic Patrick Beverly, which is his best role in purely basketball terms.

Raps win again. Thought Jazz would beat them with Toronto on second night of back to back. Celtics have little hope to catch them for the 2 seed.
