Is this your idea/preference/etc or something you've seen that this is what it will be.Washington Sentinels.
Could have been worse.
Strong rumblings from people who would seem to know. I still prefer Redtails but this isnt a bad choiceIs this your idea/preference/etc or something you've seen that this is what it will be.

Well so much for that lol.View: https://twitter.com/john_keim/status/1285952921784459265?s=20
Dear Twitter: It's not the Sentinels. .... I don't know what it is; I do know it won't be that. Have a good day.

He could be wrong. A lot of blue checks embarrassed themselves over Khawi and where he was going.Well so much for that lol.
I mean, in fairness, if not for a ton of chatter around this I doubt he would have posted the clarification post. Thanks for shitposting!
Who was that guy during DeflateGate who ALWAYS had inside information and it was literally always wrong and usually the opposite of what he said? This is a little like that, but on a smaller, cozier scale. I appreciate you giving it a shot.Well so much for that lol.
I think the timing on this is....
a) let's get far enough ahead of this so we can seem "culturally sensitive" AND we can pre-empt what they may have suspected re the Snyder article
but now
b) let's slow it down enough that it doesnt look incredibly stupid that they arent going all out to make a global change before the season begins.
I'd like to think that they'll at least go with generic "Washington" or something if they can't decide on the final branding / designs / production in time.Well so much for that lol.

I could be conflating former members, but wasn't he also the guy that mailed Johnny Damon his jersey back when he signed with NYY and he said Damon called him to apologize?Nice, that's it.
The one and the same.I could be conflating former members, but wasn't he also the guy that mailed Johnny Damon his jersey back when he signed with NYY and he said Damon called him to apologize?
The franchise announced Tuesday it’s discontinuing the Eskimos name. It follows a similar decision by the NFL’s Washington team as pressure mounts on teams to eliminate racist or stereotypical names.
LOL. Man, that was an all-time classic here. I'd forgotten about it.Keep this up and you guys are each going to get a sternly worded note
I think the Edmonton CFL organization recognized that the dominos are falling - and that no matter their internal thoughts they'd have to change the name sooner or later, and now is as good a time as ever, probably better. Knowing that the eyes of the sports world would soon be upon their city in a unique way probably helped accelerate the decision, too.Just an fyi
Just for context Edmonton is in Alberta, a province that would go overwhelmingly Trump if they could, so this mildly surprising. Add the premier of Alberta makes Brian Kemp look urbane and thughtful along with the Eskimoes having won the most titles, and it surprising. I have heard rumors they like the idea of "Edmonton Footbal Club" like a soccer team. Who knows this is the ZCF where for a while it was an 8 team league with two teams with the same names.
https://www.sportsnet.ca/football/cfl/edmontons-cfl-team-dropping-use-name-eskimos/The Edmonton Eskimos are no longer in the CFL.
That is hilarious.Washington Football Team it will be for this season. No new permanent name to be announced anytime soon.
Per the ESPN article you’ll soon be able to buy gear with that name!I don't know. I like Washington Football Team more than the Sentinels.
Washington Area Footballers. Or the Wafflers for shortWashington Football Team it will be for this season. No new permanent name to be announced anytime soon. Link.
The helmet could be pure white with black letters in sans serif font that say "WASHINGTON FOOTBALL TEAM".Washington Football Team isn't bad. Probably good that they don't rush the process.
I like player numbers on the helmets instead of a logo.
Yeah, maybe they'll change their minds and do that instead. The helmet could be pure white with black letters in sans serif font that say "WASHINGTON FOOTBALL TEAM".
Washington will not have any change to its color scheme. It will still use burgundy and gold. The logo on the helmet will be replaced by the player's number in gold. The Washington Football Team will debut its home uniforms in Week 1 against the Eagles, and its road uniforms in Week 2 against the Arizona Cardinals.
Yeah, waiting is actually a good idea, given they were likely to royally screw it up in rushing something through.Washington Football Team isn't bad. Probably good that they don't rush the process.

Or to do so as an act of "defiance"Who will be the first play-by-play/commentator to mistakenly refer to them by their old name?
This reminds me of the time that Howard Cosell used a derogatory term (but I'm sure without ill intent) on MNF when speaking about Washington player Art Monk.Who will be the first play-by-play/commentator to mistakenly refer to them by their old name?
He called him Alvin Garrett? This reminds me of the time that Howard Cosell used a derogatory term (but I'm sure without ill intent) on MNF when speaking about Washington player Art Monk.
It was actually Alvin Garrett, a small super quick WR for the Skins. This reminds me of the time that Howard Cosell used a derogatory term (but I'm sure without ill intent) on MNF when speaking about Washington player Art Monk.
Or the catchy DC FCWashington FC was just sitting there for them in the interim.
