Dopes delete if not allowed

There is an T&R thread obviously, but I think this one should be specific to just Toucher and his now admission of his drinking problems. He's admitted he reads these threads, and I'm not sure if computers are allowed in rehabs and whatnot, but this is from his IG on Monday:

"Here is a non sarcastic post. I can't sleep tonight because I'm going to rehab for my alcohol addiction tomorrow. I don't think I've ever been this scared in my life. I have read all of your posts and they have meant the world to me. You made me feel a lot better about my struggle. I am looking forward to get back to the radio but I need to get well. I hope I can make those of you that like the show still tune in. Once again I have been overwhelmed with your support. Thank you so much."

I was hoping for a thread where we can give our positive thoughts to Freddy T, as he's one of the most popular guys in Boston media (I personally met him through my business a few years ago and he was a really nice guy) and I think he will read them.

Good luck in rehab Freddy T and we can't wait for you to come back

Good thread, ND. Get well, Fred. I can't imagine having to go through all this stuff in my anonymous life let alone publicly like he has. Can't wait to have you back.

I had no idea who "Freddy T" was as I've never listened, so I had to Google, but good for him for getting help. I've been there myself and rehab isn't fun but it helps you cope and saves lives. It's not an easy decision Him being scared resonates with me, I was fucking terrified the night before I checked in. Hopefully he found a good clinic, a lot are out to make $ first and foremost.

Good for you. Speaking of which, what happened to your buddy? Has he gotten some help?

I honestly don't know. He is probably the least wiling person to admit or open up and I haven't talked to him in about 6 weeks. Last I knew, he told me he had been into the ICU 3 times since February for his own detox/withdrawals and can't kick it. I tried to be supportive and kind of tag team it, but he would scoff and lie about it; I know the first time, I went to see him and tried a heart to heart but he kept lying and told me they "didn't know what was wrong". I could spot it the second I walked into his room and then confirmed when a social worker came in and he told me to stay. So I kinda gave up and worried about me. He's pretty absent from FB and his wife never tags him with pictures of their kid, so I'm genuinely curious/worried they split up or separated and he's in a Microtel or something. But I've tried and every time it's bullshit about how great things are (when I know they aren't). So I kinda threw my hands up. Need to want help to take it.

Good luck, Fred. You have made my commute much more enjoyable through the years. Do whatever you have to do to get better. Hope to hear you again soon.

Anyone else want to post their favorite Freddy T moment(s)?

Oh boy I could spend hours on this. Most of the old WBCN bits have been scrubbed from the internet but I do remember sitting in my driveway with tears coming down my face while listening to this dating on demand:

Off the top of my head:

The original Chilli Guy audio - I remember Crash trying to move on to a new segment but Fred could NOT stop laughing and kept asking "is it hot in here" because he couldn't control himself

The Effing Champ - The whole show did a bracket style showdown of going drink for drink until someone either gave up/threw up. The final matchup was someone vs Adolfo and they gave him shot after shot of tequila.

Not a bit, but I remember them talking about Ryan Lochte and Fred went on a rant about him that was hilarious. At one point he was talking about Locthe doing commercials and saying something to the effect of "Hi, I'm Ryan Lochte, watch me float" and just how angry he was talking about it was perfect.

The sports hub rap battles got a little stale at the end, but the first and second one I remember being amazing. Fred Vs Adolfo was hilarious when Fred rapped "Pepperoni nips, fudge on your lips" to an instrumental of The Choice is Yours.

I mentioned in the other thread, but Fred announcing that Mary had cancer and the entire hour after it was so emotional.

These are just a couple and I could go on for a long time talking about more.

Can't wait to hear Fred again when he is back. Fred is as funny as anybody on the radio right now or the last 20 years. That struggle is a real one and it's hard admit when you need to get help. That much seems fairly universal. That's a big step, I hope he sees it through and I really hope his personal life turns around.

Fred,

Huge fan since the BCN days. Glad you're accepting help. Keep accepting it. That's the hardest part. We're all rooting for you.

Well you gotta take care of you. Hopefully he can come to own realization.

Yeah, that's where I'm at. It sucks to lose a close friend but when he was part of the problem and not being honest about it (instead throwing a guilt trip and being hypocritical), I have better people to spend my energy on in my life. I hope he gets the reins, but I'm not going to lose sleep, it's caused me too many sleepiness nights worrying about others to my own detriment. I've got a wife and hopefully a family starting soon, I'm focused on me.

Fred, you’re a straight-up inspiration. You have a truly unique comedic voice, you’re a good dude, and now (know it or not) by doing this you’re helping a ton of people, too. This step is next level, man.

I hear ground beef is a real winner nowadays, but it ain’t got nothing on ya.

I‘ve been a listener since the very end of the BCN days. So many great memories. Fred has made my miserable morning wake ups and commutes more enjoyable for years. I’ve never laughed harder in my laugh along with Fred than the Sox drunken recap with the “I don’t like fats ladies“ guy. (I wish I could find a clip of that somewhere.) Get well, Freddy T! Remember: You got the VIP on Swooooooole!

Agreed. He needs this time to get better and hopefully he comes back better than ever. Get well Freddy No Pockets! Hopefully he's sitting around and Shootin' The Breeze right now.

Hope Fred's doing alright and we get some sort of update. I'm assuming in rehab they don't let you have electronic devices?

From my experience, personal devices are taken away, but there is a communal computer to use (somewhat locked down.... no social media sites, but email is ok). But I am sure it varies from place to place.

Agreed. Hope he is doing well. My guess he has to be doing -- at a minimum -- a 30 day residential stay. So we probably won't get any sort of update until about the end of this month.
