Have watched zero innings, don’t intend to and expect it’ll be done in a week or two. This strikes me as seriously FUBAR and goes to show how inane MLB is about how they handle things. This is entirely on the owners and Manfred, but that’s all imho.
Devil's Advocate--MLB had no positive tests in the most recent round except for the Marlins and overall results of 0.3% positive. We shall see if that continues, but based on that, isn't that good?

That would be good, but with 13 Marlins now positive, the league is up to 1.5% just counting those players
Yes--but based on the fact that no one else is testing positive at this point, it seems to speak to 31 teams following the protocols, and one team not.

Additionally, if any state is at 1.5% we'd be rejoicing.

Sure, but how do you rank how they just handled the Marlins/Phillies/Yankees/Orioles ? Do you think that .3% will hold?

Of course .3% won't hold. I'm simply saying that until the Marlins *apparently* did something stupid they had the numbers low.

I fully anticipate another player/team doing something stupid.

We should do a poll for which RS player is most likely to first contract CV-19 (beyond the ones who already have). I'm not sure I know 3/4ths of the pitching staff though.

Yeah, this is probably headed for disaster, but I don't agree that we're at the "shut it down" point, or probably even very close. There is actually sort of a glass half full way to look at the results so far, as you lay it out.

Oh, I get that, but the numbers are going to be low until you mix everyone together. That's just how a virus works. When you start throwing in Nth powers shit starts spiraling.

Even short of another team doing something stupid, in a theoretical, there's now four teams at risk. By forging ahead, that only spreads. There's no reason to think that the players or staff haven't intermingled with other teams and passed it along and there is still the issue of being asymptomatic. That they let the players decide if they played or not doesn't give me a lot of warm and fuzzies.

I'll stand by my statement months ago and say this was a debacle in the making and had serious consequences; shouldn't be attempted for the novelty of keeping us entertained. NBA and NHL had better circumstances to handle it so they could continue, MLB and NFL, nope sorry, it's asinine. The justifications people (not you) throw out for going forward are idiotic; "they make a lot of money"; "soldiers are away from their families"; yada yada.

Re: The poll, a better question would have been how much have you watched versus how much you usually watch.
A person who regularly watches 25% who is watching 25% is different than a person who regularly watches 90% watching 25%.

And then there are those of us who prefer to listen...

I can't handle thi team. I usually check in after the first few innings, and most of he time it already out of reach. This as pessimistic I have been about th e team since maybe early 80s. Mookie leaving feels like a generational error and there is little reason to be optimistic. My biggest hope is the seaon is cancelled before the Yankees can add another tainted ring.

I check the scores every day like normal, but with much less optimism than I ever had previously.

I used to check in throughout the game every couple of innings but this year just feels like I am wasting my time.

With so much other bad news in the world... the team adds no joy or value to my life.

As an aside, did anyone else notice Mookie’s big day yesterday and remark on how lifeless his reactions have become? Almost like baseball has become work now - he has no joy anymore.

How many games have been truly "out of reach" in the middle innings? Last night was 5-2 after 2.5 innings and stayed that way. It was 3-1 on Friday from the 3rd until the 8th. Tuesday against the Mets it was 5-2 in the 6th. Those aren't "out of reach" if the offense performs to its capability. The only hitters doing anything worth a damn are Vazquez, Bradley, and Pillar. Moreland's hitting too but not seeing much playing time due to how many lefties they've faced. If Devers, Martinez, and Bogaerts can get on track, this team will win more games even if the pitching only marginally improves (the bullpen has been fairly good). The starters haven't been good, but it isn't just them.

This has all the excitement of the Major League Baseball I watched in July 1981 and September 1994.

I’ve watched zero innings this season, and don’t expect I’ll watch much more of that in future seasons. They lost me on the Betts trade.

The games aren’t free to watch, and even if they were, my perspective is now that I can find a better way to spend 3+ hours.

I still check the box scores for whatever reason, and hope X, Devers and E-Rod continue their careers successfully. I also hope the pitching continues to crumble - Eovaldi aside - and they finish like 10-50. Not sure if that’s out of hope for a #1 pick, or out of general malice.

Aside from that, fuck the MFY.

I have watched a part of every game. I would enjoy a miserable season so far much more if Don Orsillo was still in the Red Sox booth. After Sunday night I thought well what a let down. With a pandemic swirling and little to do I hoped for at least a competetive Red Sox team and instead we get this at the very moment we all need baseball the most.

If I could have voted it would be just above zero. Hard to believe what ownership has done since the 2018 Sox - most fun and very best team I've seen. But they're the Smart Guys.

What do you want them to do? They let Dombrowski trade away the farm in pursuit of that amazingly fun season. These lean years are the price you pay for that.

It's the moves he made after 2018 that hurt the club, not the ones before that.
