You had to be wondering if there would be bad goaltending when Raycroft entered the NESN studio.

Wow that's a huge goal. Gotta be so demoralizing for Carolina too.

Many apologies - I'd forgotten the start time of the game, and then when I went to look for it on the normal channels that show hockey here in the UK, it wasn't on, and I was getting irate. But then I found it on a different network (BT Sport) which for some reason happens to be showing this game and only this game...and within a minute of me starting to watch, the B's scored the goal to make it 1-1. So they should be fine now.

(Same sort of thing happened in Game 4, btw - I turned it on when it was 2-1 to the Canes.)

Bergeron will go down as the most underrated player in Boston sports history.
It's a dead heat between him and Pedro as my favorite athletes of all time. I will 100% be attending his HOF induction ceremony.

I'm not sure how much more he has to do to be top 5, but it can't be much.
Problem is Bruins get short shrift in the Boston sports scape, and Orr will always be the Bruins guy. No way Bergeron displaces a guy from another sport to be the 5th guy (even though he is one of the greatest two way players I have ever seen play).

edit - if we are talking top 5 Bruins, than he's near the top of the Top 5 (can't really displace Orr)

Bergeron could do nothing else and he'd still be my favorite player. But he just continues to be awesome on and off the ice.

I love Bergy, and I might say Pedro was the most fun to watch. I’m wondering where Brady would rank on your list? Or Papi or Neely? Not arguing with you about YOUR feelings, just curious. :)

I own 2 sports jerseys—Brady and Bergeron. That’s how much I respect him.
So their careers have essentially overlapped completely in NE, and I'd be really interested to know how many more Brady shirts have been sold over Bergeron's amongst NE area fans (I know Brady has more "national appeal".)

Bergy, Chara, Brady, Pedro, Manny, Papi are probably on a tier of their own for me. Not sure I could ever rank them.

It’s admittedly a tough list (Williams, Orr, Brady, Russell, Bird, Yaz, Pedro, to name the most obvious players), with at least two arguable GOATs and some nationally recognized legends in their sports.

Bergeron is certainly one of the defining players of this golden era of Boston sports.
