And unlike when John Dennis went to rehab, the upside isn't just that he'll stop slurring during his terrible takes. "Slur" in this case referring to diction, not discriminating against a race of people for which Dennis and Callahan were wont to do. Get better Fred.

"Nervous about the Bruins" Rich is back. These Ty Anderson interviews are ruined. I figured he stopped doing it after he embarrassed himself for a month about the lack of an announcement for NHL bubble cities. It's just Rich and his anxieties and Wallach talking too much. This show sucks without Fred.

In addition, please stop Rich from talking so much. It's borderline unlistenable. He doesn't breathe. The flow of the show is so bad with the hosts and with callers.

I think Hardy would be helpful in some role. Nobody’s replacing Fred by any means, but he brings something drier a la Fred’s personality. Wallace, Murray and Rich are all so earnest, not a bad thing, but together it gets overwhelming. There needs to be some sarcastic stuff to balance it out.

I hope Fred comes back soon - The show has been lacking since the beginning of the pandemic yet Zolak & Bertrand, Felger & Mazz and Adam Jones have all made an effort to be entertaining even when there isn't sports. I feel like T&R just show up, crack the mics and talk. I also think Fred relies on Rich far too often for topics to talk about. I hope he comes back energized and ready. Maybe cut back on Taco Bell talk every other week as well.

That was cringeworthy radio. It was one of those times Rich has a dumb argument based on just his opinion and gets all know-it-all like and whiny and keeps digging in even deeper. Similar to the time he had 10 tickets to a Bruins game and didn't invite Fred and spent 40 minutes being a dick.

Basically Barstool is dumb for hiring Deion because no one cares about Deion and players and kids dont relate to him. We all agree he's a shitty analyst but that wasn't the argument.

Exactly. Good for Joe Murray calling him out on it - Sounded like literally everyone was against Rich on that - he sounded totally out of touch. Deion is huge for Barstool

I know the show isn't as good without Fred, mainly because Rich isn't a guy to run the show and Wallach belongs in the 3rd chair, but i do love the energy Joe Murray brings and some passion and he's actually watching the games. He has some bad takes but he truly believes what he's saying and cares.

Agree, Murray makes the show listenable in Fred's absence. I love Rich, but he's simply miscast in the role of show-carrier. I will say, when Rich mentioned this morning that he had to get a COVID test because Mary was having shortness of breath last week, it reminded me just what he's been dealing with for months. The attention has been on Fred's struggles, but Rich must be bearing an unreal amount of stress. Credit to the guy for carrying on as well as he has.

Honestly if it's Rich, Wallach and Joe Murray than Murray should be the lead. Yes it'll never happen but he follows sports more than anyone else on the show (because of gambling) and has some pretty good experiences and is interesting. Rich is terrible leading the show and I don't have to bother diving into Wallach.

If youve “fill in topic” call us at 617-931-0985 then Laugh like a school girl at any calls is about 40% of Rich’s shows. Then he mocks Joe Murray last week for doing that once for an hour.

I mean those fill in segments were much more needed when we had no sports. Now I think we don't need an hour of IF THAT HAS HAPPENED TO YOU CALL 617.....

All 4 major sports are back. There's plenty to talk about.

You should read the Rich comments on Twitch. Pure venom.

His phoners are the worst - Hacky morning zoo bullshit. That being said, he seems like a legitimately good guy. I just can't believe he's relying on this type of stuff after being in radio for so long. I also think the show runs through him even when Fred is there.

In other words, I hope Freddy T comes back with a fire under his ass. First day should be a 4 hour "shootin' the breeze".

Still can't get over the Deion/Barstool argument yesterday.

Joe Murray’s hot Rask takes are something today but then he gets to the Celtics. These gems were great

“If the shots aren’t falling, how else are they going to score?”

“I’m concerned about the length”
I like Joe, but I can see him becoming generic Boston sports radio guy #2579824897 trying to be yet another Felger wannabe. At least when Fred takes an insane position, like his Tatum one, you can almost see him winking through the radio once it's clear that he was wrong initially.

I like Joe too and I got on Rask last night for his dumb comments but unlike him I know he’s a great goaltender. Joe doesn’t know anything about hockey and is trying to come off as knowledgeable.

Isn't it weird they haven't talked about Fred at all? Besides Wallach sharing an update last Friday that he's doing well, it's been silent.

Also, If I hear that T&R metal song one more time, I might drive my car off a cliff. They've played that once a week - It was fine the first 50 times. Now it's infuriating.

P.S: Rask golfing is a terrible look for him. If he left the bubble for family reasons, stay home and attend to them. I wouldn't be hitting the links 3 days after leaving your teammates.

No, I don’t think it’s weird at all. It’s really none of our business. He’s getting help and even knowing that is more than enough, in my opinion.

The mental concentration needed to be able to stay in the bubble and be a top flight NHL goaltender is nowhere near the level needed to go out and hit the links to decompress a bit from a very trying time.

It's a perfectly fine look to anyone that has any emotional empathy and maturity. Which is a lot to ask of sports fans, I know.

I'm not looking for a daily update. What's odd is when we do get updates they're coming from Wallach, Joe and Lockhart when they're hosting. Never from Rich except a few days after Fred's last show.

There is nothing that has made me more crazy than them for whatever reason making "Xanadu" some sort of Bruins celebrity and incessantly talking about him and with him. It's a station changer for me.

Seems like Dan and everyone else back at the station can't stand the Xanidude bit - It's terrible radio. Rich drove me crazy today. He kept Blabbering on without giving Jones or Joe a chance to speak.

Let's be honest, a 4-hour long, high-pitched squeal would be better than listening to Jones speak.

Yes - Rask golfing is a bad look. He left the bubble to tend to his family... then goes golfing.

So we can't talk about Fred's situation at all? In a forum about Toucher & Rich? I enjoy the show as much as the next person on here, so please excuse me if I find it weird that the co-host has only briefly addressed it once (maybe twice) weeks ago - but when he's not hosting, Wallach, Joe and Mike give some kind of update (which have been really encouraging). If you don't think it's none of our business, that's totally fine! But I bet some people do care and want to know how he's doing. Again, NOT asking for a daily update. I just find it very odd. It's leaving a bad taste in my mouth. SAWRY!

What’s there to talk about? Fred went to get help, we hope him the best and want him to return. Speculating on anything is only going to lead to bad things. I hope if they have a good update they’ll share it, other than that Fred needs some time and I can’t wait until he’s back.

I do love Joe Murray though. I hope he gets a full time gig on radio.

The man’s personal life is none of our business.

Fair enough. He's also a public figure. So when Fred comes back and shares his experience in rehab and stories from his experience, will you change the station? I'm sure as hell not going to. Fred has shared his personal life on the air on numerous occasions and this should not be any different because, unfortunately, I think a lot of people would relate and would appreciate him sharing what he went through.

Again - I'm not looking for details or breakdown. I'm asking how he is doing. A simple update. Nothing more. Nothing less. There's simply no issue with a fan asking that cuz frankly the show is unlistenable when Rich is hosting.

Exactly - I'm not asking for a Fred's medical records. But any positive encouraging news about Fred would be great.

And on Joe - 100% yes. Wouldn't be shocked if EEI took a run on him. That's if they had a clue.

If Fred wants to talk about it that is HIS business. Not yours. Not his coworkers. If you question this again I will make the decision that you are trolling and not just unsure of the concept.

and no, I won’t be listening. That kind of tale is not my type of entertainment. I have no quibble if it is your type of entertainment or anyone else’s.

This made me recall my favorite line from the Howard Stern movie, Private Parts. Stern is interviewing for his first radio job out of college...

Howard: Every since I was a little boy, I dreamed of working in radio.

Station Manager: What are you, an idiot?

Okay then - You seem like a Dale and Keefe kind of guy. Seems like your speed.

Literally nothing i've said would be trolling. Chances are Fred will talk about his experience. Maybe he won't. But if he does and ya don't like it, feel free to change the channel.

I don't think it will be weird if Fred talks about it. I also don't think it's weird at all that third parties aren't taking it upon themselves to give us updates on his rehab. That's a personal decision for Fred to make himself and nobody else. I haven't heard any of the other hosts mention anything, but I would be surprised if it's more than a general "he's doing well" type statement.

Fred talks a lot about his personal life and his issues on air. So I agree he probably will talk about it when he gets back. But until then, it's pretty private stuff I don't think he'd want other people talking about.

Nothing with Adam Jones involved can be considered a solid lineup. He is instant channel-change for me.
