They'll be another spot tomorrow when Folk moves to the 53Mason Kinsey reportedly slides into last PS slot.
View: https://twitter.com/ezlazar/status/1302751965185814528The #Patriots announce a 16-man practice squad without wide receivers Kristian Wilkerson and Mason Kinsey. More moves coming if those two are joining the team.
Thanks, I wasn't aware of those practice squad rules this year.Keep in mind this year that:
1) teams can protect four practice squad players each week from being poached from other teams.
2) teams can promote two practice squad players each week to the gameday roster and then revert them to the PS without clearing waivers again.
So the PS is more of an extension of the 53-man roster than it typically is. I don't know if that will result in less player movement, but the league's goal is less player movement.
Released by the Titans."Wilkerson comes from an FCS program, but his production and testing numbers made him stand out. He caught 219 passes for 3,540 yards with 33 touchdowns in four college seasons. He had 71 catches for 1,350 yards with 10 touchdowns as a senior. At 6-foot-1, 200 pounds, Wilkerson ran a 4.46-second 40-yard dash with a lightning-fast 1.45-second 10-yard split, 6.68-second 3-cone drill, 4.09-second short shuttle, 39.5-inch vertical leap and 10-feet, 8-inch broad jump."
35 feels like a slow number to me. Calvin Hill/Jim Otis/Marion Butts/Mike Tolbert, etc.For anyone who cares about such things, I saw that the following numbers apparently have been assigned:
Dugger 35
Uche 53
Jennings 58
Keene 44
Asiasi 86
Poor Reggie Lewis35 feels like a slow number to me. Calvin Hill/Jim Otis/Marion Butts/Mike Tolbert, etc.
Trickeration!
[Okay, I'll give you Rickey Henderson...]
Is this Jules’s eventual replacement? The makeup seems about right. The question is, can he play quarterback? As mentioned a bit upthread, Kristian Wilkerson will be joining the practice squad once his COVID screening completes.

I think of Butts as 44, which was perfect.35 feels like a slow number to me. Calvin Hill/Jim Otis/Marion Butts/Mike Tolbert, etc.

Edelman is listed at 5'10" 198. I'd say he's taller, but not much bigger.Wilkerson is 6'1" 200 lbs, so he's significantly bigger.
In Kyed's article, it talked about Wilkerson's catch radius, and his ability to highpoint catches, winning a lot of 50/50 balls. So I'd say that he presents a bigger target?Edelman is listed at 5'10" 198. I'd say he's taller, but not much bigger.
Talib is just one of those people who I want to hear speak, regardless of what they're talking about. He's got such a fun energy. Good story about turning down NE, and makes sense too.Looks like we almost got Aqib Talib back for on a one year deal as a "tight end lockdown". Then he looked at the schedule...

If Brady were still here maybe but doesn’t make any sense to stunt any of the development of the young guys for a guy like that.Just a thought, but doesnt Clay Matthews at 35 seem like exactly the kind of fading vet BB would try to squeeze one more year out of?
Counterpoint. Could a veteran who is open to playing situationally HELP in their development? If Brady were still here maybe but doesn’t make any sense to stunt any of the development of the young guys for a guy like that.
Or help in the development of other players who become accustomed to teammates who do their jobs rather than trying to guess whether they will make rookie mistakes. You need some baseline competence to help with everyone's development.Counterpoint. Could a veteran who is open to playing situationally HELP in their development?
Fair. But I feel like we have enough vets albeit the LB group is a little green.Counterpoint. Could a veteran who is open to playing situationally HELP in their development?
I feel like the number of signings from off the larger roster (i.e. active + PS) will be low this year. I think COVID procedures may reduce the ease of bringing someone in for a look-see.Just a thought, but doesnt Clay Matthews at 35 seem like exactly the kind of fading vet BB would try to squeeze one more year out of?
Jermaine Elum....me....men.....naaa-well not gonna work here anymoar anyway!OMG HILARIOUS NAME MAN!!
JULIAN EDEL-BEEN AMIRITE?

GUNNER OLSZE-WHERE IS THE END ZONE??
So funny.
Got that joke is 21 years old. Ancient. Dating back to the last time the Pats didn't have BB as a coach.Jermaine Elum....me....men.....naaa-well not gonna work here anymoar anyway!
I've heard from a double secret insider that the rumors are true. They're planning on using weeks 1-4 to try out the two kickers by alternating them on the practice squad shuttle. They don't have to make a call until after week 4.We have two of them.....?
Probably settle down, right?OMG HILARIOUS NAME MAN!!

Smart move & well deserved. An outstanding FA signing.
Can we hook Cam up mid year if he performs?
Cam had a bunch of incentives in his contract. I think he can get from ~$1M to ~$7.5M. PLus if he performs, he'll get a huge deal (elsewhere) next spring. Can we hook Cam up mid year if he performs?
That $7.5M is extremely light if he does what’s needed to get them. Of course, if he does you’re right that he’ll set himself up nicely for his last big contract.Cam had a bunch of incentives in his contract. I think he can get from ~$1M to ~$7.5M. So the Pats have no incentive to pay him more this year. He has all of the motivation he needs. Whereas with Gilmore, he has another year left on his deal after this one. With the excess cap room, might as well make your best player happy. That $7.5M is extremely light if he does what’s needed to get them. I am 1000% on board with Gilmore getting some more coin. He has earned every cent of it and then some.So the Pats have no incentive to pay him more this year. He has all of the motivation he needs.
