Your opinion may vary, and that's fine, but I absolutely refuse to watch college football. Given the current state of the pandemic and spread of COVID-19 on college campuses, the fact that unpaid "student" athletes are competing for Joe Public's entertainment as part of this administration's "return to normalcy" canard is reprehensible. I didn't turn on the Carolina game, nor any other game, and won't be for the foreseeable future.

Duke Notre Dame came on after soccer.
I thought I heard them say the Duke team traveled to the stadium in 6 separate busses, in order to limit ridership to 26 per bus, for social distancing. To then share a locker room. And a sideline. And play football.
Logic fails me.

One thing I noticed from flipping around several televised games today is that the stadium personnel are clearly not enforcing social distancing requirements at many of these games. They may be only letting 20% of capacity in, but those people appear to all be grouping together in lower sections near the 50 yard line.

Well said. I feel embarrassed. I feel I should watch if it's "on," but would much rather someone would just take away my toy from my hands, if that makes any sense.

No distancing at all. Players forced to play for scholarships. No real championship anyways.

Just like the Florida State game that was delayed by lightning. Lightning.

Seems like the odds of dying by lightning are significantly significantly LOWER than the chance of death by Covid. Logic also fails me.

Well said, I also plan to do this but we’ll see how strong I am.

I completely understand your take. I will watch if games occur but don’t believe they should whatsoever. However players want to play, and if a school is going to be open then me not watching won’t make any difference so I’ll watch the athletes.

But, again, you aren’t wrong and I have wrestled with this. And feel dirty watching.

But I feel dirty watching CFB in general now due to all the issues around controlling players and the financial side.

Wake has 50 or under parents at the game and cutouts, per NC law can't have more than 50.

Thought about 4, but thought that would be un-gentlemanly.

Edit - Tongue in cheek. I know most people here hate ND, and that was an ugly-ass win today. But I enjoyed watching it nonetheless.
I know, just giving you some good-natured shit. My college roommate went to ND Law, and two of his kids went to undergrad there, so I pretend to root for them. But yeah, I hate them.

There;s too much various sports on now, what happened?
No one major thing but many small things.
What led to my post was his last, awful, pass of the game where on 4th and 2 he wasn’t even close and he should have been throwing to someone else.

A nice photo essay of scenes from around college football yesterday:
https://www.theguardian.com/sport/gallery/2020/sep/13/empty-stands-virtual-bands-college-football-photosI felt uneasy watching any of the football yesterday...but strangely, I felt much more positive about hearing Joe Tessitore for the first time since, well, since he was last doing college football. (I'm also glad to see ESPN has revamped its main in-game graphics package since last season, in such a way that I don't have to use any mental processing power to immediately understand e.g. what quarter it is.)

Florida State is 18-21 the last 4 years. Miami has been a .500 team the last two; and most of the previous decade was mediocre. Where's the talent from Florida going? So much for Howard Schnellenberger's wall.
