Diangana did really well there. Once he realized no Everton player was going to tackle him he ran with it, got his shot off and hit it sweet enough to put it past the sprawling english keeper Pickford. (Sorry, listening to commentary and they always refer to him as England keeper/goalie Pickford.)

Everton started fairly well, West Brom giving away the ball around their own 18 yard box, looking shaky...the goal came out of the blue, no pun intended.

Blood Hell WBA have turned it around, that was some great play from deep inside their own half to pass it out and then put a decent attack together with good movement. Nearly got a second goal.

Then Bilic got sent off for jawing at the ref. Not sure what he’s bitching about, that is 100% a red, he smacked James on the face

I have a hard time taking Mike Dean’s side in anything so I’m just going to assume Bilic is in the right.

Everton were awful for the first 25’, Bad Pickford showed up, Mina clumsily giving up the ball trying to build from the back, disjointed passing, James absent, WB forwards rampant. But WB couldn’t keep it up, started chasing shadows, Everton grew into the game.

It was harsh, Bilic wasn’t over the line

OTOH, the red was the clearest red I can remember, Bilic had zero business complaining at all

That's normally a pretty sound policy, but if Bilic was complaining about the sending off, he had absolutely no leg to stand on. (Unless we later find out that this is a Zidane-Materazzi situation and James said something completely over the top to Gibbs, which I can't really imagine is the case.)

Be a decent kit for Norwich i reckon. I like it all the same.
I keep thinking they’re Norwich. Not that we will see more of Bilic but his Bobby Valentine like switch to glasses was also confusing me
Edit: I think Bilic wanted him to VAR the card which is reasonable enough. James did go down like a complete baby although Gibbs has to own the stupidity of his actions

The EX Ref on the BT Sport broadcast was saying that it's forbidden to approach the Ref on the field of play, so Bilic is on the wrong on that count and that's all that matters.

But, Oh my days West Brom have just got an equalizer.

It’s strange to say in a thread where they’re drawing fake Norwich but I’m impressed with Ancelotti. I’ve always thought he was kind of overrated and mostly just a man manager but this Everton team have a good shape and threat to them. I have no idea why he chose this project but they are playing good football and imo will be a good neutral watch all season

Smacking a guy in the head/face 100# red, no ambiguity whatsoever

4-2, Richy to DCL

Everton would have lost this game last year, they have enough quality now to weather a patch of bad play

DCL having the game of his life. You know when you’re having a good game when you completely miss a sitter on a corner .. whiffing on the header and it goes in off of your back. (Or so it looked to me on the replay)

Just tuned in to the Union Berlin - Augsburg game. They said there are fewer than 5,000 fans there, but the stadium looks quite full (relatively) to me. I mean, it is a small stadium, but people seen quite close in the standing area - though maybe that's just the angle. Very few masks too. This seems like not the best idea.

My last game there was in early March, and had a pretty serious cough after it.

Finally saw a good replay of the red. What on earth was Gibbs thinking? James bumped him after the ball had gone, was he trying to give him a shove back and got his face?

That said, I wouldn’t mind if James had gotten a yellow for simulation, too. Rolling around and checking for blood is the type of stupidity they need to stamp out.

Bremen still stink, if anyone was curious.

Sargent playing left mid more than striker. Has their only attempt on goal so far though.

Tahith Chong looks like a player for them. A winger who is not insanely selfish will be an exciting change from Rashica / Bittencourt.

Interesting technique from the Fulham keeper on that Leeds penalty. Does an early and obvious fake to his right during the run up - then dives to his right .. so what was the point of this ? Seems To be overthinking it.

I don’t know what the acceptable maximum number of man buns on the pitch is, but I know this exceeds it.
