He’s signing with Charlotte fucking hell
Do you have a source, or is this just off-the-cuff bullshit? If it's the latter, then don't post in this thread again.

edit: Source duly noted.

How? I doubt Hayward was in a rush and knew Charlotte was in the running. What could Ainge have done differently?
Taken Turner and McDermott? I wasn’t a big fan of the trade even though I like Turner, but just forfeiting the salary spot is a bad move. So now what?

He can't trade a player that isn't signed. It's very possible Hayward knew all along Charlotte was going to offer 4/120 and was just waiting for it to happen.

Get those dollars but let’s not pretend “be a core member of playoff team” was a thing.

Such a bizarre move for a guy who has made a ton of money and has interest from good teams.

Damn. Well, at minimum this makes clear Hayward’s opt-out decision was correct - he’s going to make almost as much as he would have if he opted in this year, but now for four years!

Feel like this is going to be a three way sign and trade, unless Charlotte has a deal to dump Batum or Zeller off elsewhere.

Hollinger points out Charlotte could get there just by waiving and stretching Batum.

I'm skeptical Gordon was taking $20 million less to go to Indiana, this was going to happen regardless of the Pritchard/Ainge staring match.

This is not good. Charlotte only needs to clear 7.5M so this may not even be a S&T. Just the worst case scenario we discussed all week

No one is taking that Batum contract. It’s got to be Zeller and Monk at minimum. I’m intrigued by Monk. I still think there’s a really good player there if he can figure it out.

Hornets can waive and stretch Batum to make space.... Would be crazy to take 9M hits for 3 years but so is 4/120

Stretch or trade Batum?

Likely a bad contract though Hayward is good at least. I'd much rather have him at 4/120 than Marcus Morris at 4/64. Damning with faint praise I suppose.

I guess he didn't want to be 3rd or 4th banana for less money. Can't blame him.
