Not so sure. All the blatant defensive holding calls on the last drive to extend the drive and the last all out blitz? Who does that? Even with the all out blitz they didn’t get close to Carr and man to man on Ruggs is a disaster waiting to happen.
One of those two D-holding calls was the sort of thing that sometimes goes uncalled. There’s no doubt in my mind that the Jets’ players were trying to win. Gregg Williams, I’m not as sure. That defensive scheme was so clearly inappropriate for the game situation.

Not that it’s still not clever, but Mina’s done that before. When the Dolphins ran cover 0 last year vs the Steelers, she drew the tank in.

Speaking of which - Mike Greenberg may be the biggest piece of trash...or at least hypocrite. Saw tweets of his celebrating the Jets loss, when he was the same guy with a sanctimonious rant against the Dolphins last season, claiming how they were an embarrassment and needed to be punished by the league. Fuck him.
I don’t watch any of the programs that he’s on, but hopefully someone calls him out on that.

The tank jokes are good but Gregg Williams is an all aggression all the time moron and that is the real answer.

Wentz can’t blame the O-line for that sack. He made no effort to look downfield.

It’s like he thinks the point of extending the play is to get sacked two or three seconds later than he otherwise would.

Yup.

I have a hard time believing that the Jets coaching staff thinks they'll be around long enough to enjoy that #1 pick and Trevor Lawrence. Right now they're coaching for their future employment. It isn't going well. They should have beat the Patriots and they should have won today.

In 10 consecutive games, Wentz has been sacked at least 3 times.

That's a stat that I almost can't believe. Every game, at least 3. That's both a bad line and a really bad QB.

The Mariners joke would have been great but we all know the Mariners dont score 5 runs in games very often

The only game Wentz hasn't been sacked at least 3 times this year was against the Rams, of all teams, zero sacks.

Russell Wilson has been sacked at least twice in every game this year.

So Metcalf stiff arms a guy who brings him down and they are acting like Metcalf faced the dude and ran for a touchdown.

Terrible announcing. The guy finished the tackle despite the excellent stiff arm. if anything, it was impressive.

I had an interesting debate with @luckiestman in last week’s game about whether Wentz or his line was more to blame.

My take that it was mostly on Wentz isn’t aging badly.

I dunno. I’m sitting next to a kid who plays the game (when there isn’t a pandemic on); he was out of his seat for that stiff arm from Metcalf, and we don’t really care who wins that game.

If you watch this game, the Pack are in Wentz' face immediately. But Wentz also looks horrendous, even when he's got time and throws. They are high, low, all over the place. Wentz needs a fresh start, it's not happening in Philly. He got c blocked by Big D Nick and he's just gotten worse and worse since then.

If the still arm results in being tackled at the spot of the stiff arm, the stiff arm didn't accomplish much.

I’m not sure if Wentz’s problems are mental or if he’s suffering lingering effects of his myriad injuries. But he’s not the guy he was 2-3 years ago.

Agree that he’d benefit from a fresh start someplace else, but I’m not sure how that happens — his contract virtually ensures he’ll be on the Eagles next season.

Good timing on this conversation, as Jalen Hurts goes into the game.

If they have to get rid of Wentz, they will. Because despite the contract, if it's not happening, they won't force Wentz. He's not good enough.

$59M dead cap hit in 2021. $34M cap hit if they keep him.

Sure, I guess they can devote almost 20% of their salary cap to a guy who holds a clipboard, but there’s going to be a lot of pressure on Pederson to keep giving him opportunities.

They could trade him to a team just to get rid of the salary, not get anything back but avoid the dead cap hit. Teams would go for Wentz.

And the Giants are completely bottling up Russ. He's not cooking shit.
I should stop watching Jets games the rest of the year because if Jets lose and Giants win, that’s long term good but I’m pissed and want Gregg’s head on a pike.

Easily the worst effort of the year. This game is a fucking disgrace.
Maybe the Giants were actually the best 1-7 team in history. Because they are actually playing a solid game, especially on defense and with Colt McCoy at QB and Alfred Morris scoring all the TDs.

I'll be pissed if the Giants win, because I want the NFC Least division champ to have less than 6 wins

I thought the trade triggered the dead-cap hit.
I will confess I am not salary cap knowledgable. But if you click on that 59 million dead cap hit figure, this is what shows under the Pre-June 1st trade column.

2021 Dead Cap: $33,820,614
2021 Cap Savings: $852,922
