Thanks, A lot of great info. I wish they also showed the teams that won't be around anymore because of the contraction. RIP Lowell Spinners and PawSox, I know that the PawSox is a different situation but are no more.

This article lists the previous affiliation of the 42 teams that were chopped.

Regarding the note on Lancaster at the very bottom, since Fresno ultimately accepted its invitation to continue its affiliation with the Rockies - I believe as a low-A and not AAA level as before, Lancaster lost out.

This is sad to me. I remember when Burlington got the VT Expos in the 90’s and it their games were a load of fun despite half the seats being cement slabs.

How does the Cape Cod league fit? Will they still operate as before, but with some lesser talent?
Do you mean the Cape League that is comprised entirely of college kids with no professional affiliation? Not sure how they would be affected. A few years back, MLB even made the local teams abandon their MLB names (e.g. Cardinals or Red Sox).

I'm assuming the question was in relation to the Appalachian collegiate summer league and the MLB Draft League. As I understand it, the Appalachian league will target rising freshmen and sophomores; the Cape League has traditionally featured rising juniors, and the MLB Draft League is expected to draw primarily seniors.

Ahh. That makes sense.
OTOH, if there are fewer minor league teams, presumably there will be more college players unsigned, no?

Exactly. So instead of mid-size towns across America having low pay pro baseball to watch, they’ll see the same players either paying to play or playing for free. Same stadiums, hot dogs and mascots, though...

It will interesting to see how many of the 1,000 young men who were cut and waived last year when MiLB shut down get re-signed. Obviously, the talent pool grows every year so there are still fewer jobs and dreams. Got a nephew in that boat, still paddling, working out and hoping. He was in AA for the D-Backs.
