This year, yeah. Last year there weren’t any hits beyond Perez and maybe Valdez
Springs is a hit for Tampa this year, but he also helps prove this point. I think some would-be hits were obscured last year because our depleted pitching staff turned everyone into a mop-up guy.

The pandemic shortened season did him no favors either. Hard to blame Bloom for a couple guys being physically unable to pitch (Sale and Rodriguez) and a couple hitters inexplicably shitting the bed (Martinez and Benintendi). Espeically when there was no market in which to try to replace or upgrade any of them.

And to some degree the lack of a minor league season had an affect on all of this as well. There was no one having great AA or AAA seasons to assess and promote as major league ready.
