Can say the same thing about Game 4 and Pasta missing a wide open net.I keep going back to how they started the game and how the game would’ve played out if Marchand buried that shot at the goal mouth to give them a 2-0 lead.

My tinfoil-hat take on this is that the NHL probably considers the Bruins to have thoroughly saturated their market at this point, while many of their postseason opponents have not. The Bs have been competitive for over a decade now (aside from a few off-years in there) and are in a great sports town. Ergo, they're probably not going to draw in many new fans than what they already have. I think it's very easy for NHL execs to look at Tampa, D.C., St. Louis, and now this Islanders franchise (which hasn't seen much success since the early 80s) as places to "grow the game." The Bruins constantly being competitive makes them an easy Goliath for the league to try to manufacture their would-be Davids against, especially factoring in Boston's success in the MLB and NFL.I guess I always go to why then. What reason do they have to target an Original 6 franchise in a major American market?
This. It's the same reason the Jacob family could do the bare minimum for decades. The fan base is baked in and suckers for punishmentMy tinfoil-hat take on this is that the NHL probably considers the Bruins to have thoroughly saturated their market at this point, while many of their postseason opponents have not. But they had never won the Cup, and the 2019 team had a worst-to-first Cinderella narrative built up by that point. Meanwhile, the Bruins had "just" won in 2011 and were also the franchise that had beat the Blues in the Cup finals from long ago. Which team winning is going to net you more new fans?I wouldn’t point to St. Louis as a new and sexy market. Given the NHLers they’ve been producing, they’ve had an established fan base in place for a while.
None of that matters.Yes. I watched this game and a thousand other just like it. Somebody’s always on the wrong side of bad officiating in the NHL. It didn’t stand in the way of Bruins getting 44 shots in net and only giving up 19. Islanders got playoff caliber goaltending and the Bruins did not. That was the difference tonight, despite the miserable officiating.
There’s no grand conspiracy. It’s nothing more than in Toronto, The Bruins are the dirtiest team ever, and the guys that work for the league are inundated with that constantly in the media up there. I truly believe that the refs don’t consciously give a shit who wins. However, they are always looking for stuff that the Bruins are doing because “they’re dirty, and we’re a clean team” which every opponent points out in these series. Honestly, you’re making it too complicated. My tinfoil-hat take on this is that the NHL probably considers the Bruins to have thoroughly saturated their market at this point, while many of their postseason opponents have not. And amazingly despite all this toronto still has managed to lose 3 game 7s against them, that's how fucking inept that organization isThere’s no grand conspiracy. How many goals did the Islanders get on the power play? Do you think that made any kind of a difference?Yes. I watched this game and a thousand other just like it. I was 1 goal later after the third but I was so angry because I wasn't watching hockey. I was watching something pretending to be hockey.I had to shut it off after the 2nd Islanders goal. I haven't done that in years, but I was way too angry after Game 4 and the first period that I just couldn't justify watching anymore.
There's no point to this post other than venting, but I had to do it somewhere.
Not his fault at all, but "need Carlo" is a regular playoff theme.Need Carlo. He's not Ray Bourque, but he's smart and won't try blind passes during a PK. That alone would be a huge help.
