I was actually stunned that the Phillies fell to 12th as well. 45 overall different cards, 18 autos, and 4 rookies (including Bohm) seemed far more enticing than many of the picks before them.

And at the bottom, it seems like the Rays aren't much better than the Diamondbacks by themselves, let alone a Rockies/Diamondbacks combo.

Speaking of, how will that work? There will be three teams left when I make my pick and @Bongorific just gets the other 2? Or are Rockies/Diamondbacks a set combo that I can take if it is left?

I did either. I just went to the sheet posted above and picked what seemed to be a higher chance to get an autograph or decent card. I tried cross referencing on price guides but that quickly made something that is fun into not fun. The fun is in the process anyways. Anything that I get will get sold by my kids when I die anyways

I struggled at 12 between PHI / TOR / BAL / STL, just because I wanted a Cal or an Ozzie or some of the younger hits, etc. This seems to be a good product for us all.

Not to spoil later opportunities for me, but the Nationals and Marlins seem like two stronger remaining choices.

I narrowed it to Nats, Marlins, and CWS. The White Sox have a lot of cards.

Use the checklists and cheat sheets to see the number of base, inserts, and autos. But after the best teams it’s really a crap shoot. Almost every base and insert card has parallels and there can be good hits there. Like in our last break, some guys with “bad” teams got some nice numbered cards and the best overall card was DotB’s Jo Addell, which although he is a good prospect, was largely driven by it being a numbered 1/5 card.

If anyone wants the spreadsheet I threw together with autograph counts and insert counts/ranks for each team, as well as a full list of cards, PM me with your email address. I stopped crossing drafted teams out after I picked, but it might be useful.

Not thrilled with my options. 12-17 would have been much better it seems.

4% phone battery left and on vacation so quick glance leaves me with…

Well... That makes it easy because I was between the Cubbies and another team. Hope you hit a sick one.

I'll take the Pirates and hope for a lot of Kebryan Hayes. They're still available right?

As a lower pick last time it’s not the worst thing in the world. It was fun as hell without having to hang on every word to see if I hit jackpot.

An important part of any randomized draft is lamentation regarding your place in the order as well as others telling you why it’s not so bad.

We all have our roles to play in this draft dance.

Actually thought the Cubs would fall to me, so now do I take the my chances with the Casey Mize inserts, the Christian Yelich inserts, the Joey Bart inserts, or the longshot Nolan Ryan Ranger auto shot?

I guess adding Mays to the Joey Bart inserts tips me to the San Francisco Giants.

Respect those of you who kept up a good attitude as the choices got worse and worse. Finding myself less gracious.

Do I want the Khris Davis, the Miguel Sano or the Lorenzo Cain?

Fuck it, I can’t pass up JaCoby Jones. Give me the Tigers.

over to you, @One Red Seat

The Cubbies seemed like a blast to hunt some long shot hits. Tigers would have been my choice if the Pirates were gone so I like that pick at 22.

I can't believe the Pirates lasted so long.
My theory is that I think it's probably one of the less fun teams in the break. All the Ke'Bryan Hayes is really great and in terms of pure value I was very happy to get them where I was given that (getting a top flight rookie who signed in this at 20 was not my expectation and I had ruled out the Pirates pre-draft as a possibility), but they have a terrible list outside of him. One lower impact Rookie Auto, and three base cards that are not Ke'Bryan (with Honus being the only interesting one). I was seriously considering either the Cubs (tons of cool non autos and a great auto base, though I am guessing harder to find in terms of actually pulling the autos) or Tigers (a very good rookie auto in Mize, along with a solid second rookie auto in Skubal, Miggy, and a respectable amount of base cards) or Giants (similarly, a very good rookie, a couple enticing vet autos, and some really good base/inserts). I think the "Option 2" of this break makes that a little less painful to get some different base cards.

I'll just say I got them and both recognize in terms of value I probably got a great value there, but that in terms of watching this, I think most of the other teams with a greater breadth of hits/base/inserts would've been more fun.

And karma says after saying this if I get a hit it'll be the Will Craig Auto and Ke'Bryan will take a Ke'Break from this case.

Also, tagging @caminante11 as up next as I'm not sure if there was a tag.

I believe remaining options are, to avoid having to figure it out and go back through the thread, correct me if I'm wrong on this.

I mean any decent rookie hit is a pretty good hit. I would have put Pittsburgh in my middle tier teams just because you hit a nice Hayes auto and you’re sitting pretty.

The legacy autos are hit or miss and are more of a nostalgia play. Rookies will always be in demand if the player plays well.

It's a puzzle to me why the Rays don't have some of their more appealing rookies and youngsters in this set. Can Wander not get an official rookie card until the season after he's debuted?

I was surprised when I looked to be honest. With this wide of a checklist and a team full of young, interesting players, it's oddly lacking. Like three different auto subjects isn't the worst thing and Wander was likely too late (I don't think any pure minor leaguers are in the set), but the lack of Randy Arozarena after the end of last year among others is very confusing to me.

Like, at least the prospects are decent, but even just Randy would have shored up Tampa to be okay as a shot.

2022 Stadium Club with Wander and Brujan will probably be a different story hopefully...

I believe that’s the case. I don’t know the actual rule, but Bohm is a rookie this year but he had 180 plate appearances last year.

I would imagine we won’t see Wander rookies until sets later in this year or next year.
