Filling out their 4th line?Seriously, what the fuck is Don Sweeney doing?

You know what a good way to improve the bottom of the roster is? Adding great players who push good players down a line.Improving the bottom of the roster?
Assuming Krejci is back who exactly are you pushing down? Jake? Coyle? He's fine for what he is but they will likely need to move Wagner as he is now expendable. You know what a good way to improve the bottom of the roster is? Adding great players who push good players down a line.
Who is a great player that pushes a good players down that they could acquire? He's basically a slightly more expensive Kuraly. You know what a good way to improve the bottom of the roster is? Adding great players who push good players down a line.
That's great and all, but I don't think these are the moves that will get them further in the playoffs.Filling out their 4th line?
So...they shouldn't fill out their bottom 6? Wtf?That's great and all, but I don't think these are the moves that will get them further in the playoffs.
Their bottom 6 is already over-crowded.So...they shouldn't fill out their bottom 6? Wtf?
Lauko doesn't need to make the team. Same about Studnicka. Neither have proven themselves to be NHL players at this point and I think are exempt from waivers. I would like them to make it and I think Bruce has generally played the best player regardless of contract. The only contracts I don't like of the above are DeBrusk, who is moveable, and Wagner, who they're stuck with.Their bottom 6 is already over-crowded.
DeBrusk , Coyle, Kuhlman, Frederic, Lazar, Wagner, Lauko, Studnicka needs to make the team at some point.
Sure, but the Bruins now have (we'll say 8 on your belief Lauko and Studnicka don't need to make the team) 8 players for 6 spots.Lauko doesn't need to make the team. Same about Studnicka. Well said.I'm frustrated because I was hoping they'd figure out a way to get a LHD upgrade and they could use a top 6 RW and I don't see any path to that, but that doesn't mean they shouldnt sign Nosek.
It's been asked about 3 or 4 times in two threads but who should they have been signing?Sure, but the Bruins now have (we'll say 8 on your belief Lauko and Studnicka don't need to make the team) 8 players for 6 spots.
If they trade DeBrusk - great, that certainly helps. But there's been little to no smoke about him being moved outside of messageboard banter so I'm not too confident he's going anywhere.
It's rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic at this point by signing more 3rd and 4th line players.
I'm not saying they shouldn't. I'm just very worried that the moves they've made to this point are going to add up to them not being any better than they've been the last couple of years. I was hoping that the depth signings of their own guys plus Hall was going to afford them to get a difference making defenseman which was the biggest thing they needed to address. I guess silly me for thinking Sweeney had something lined up that may have surprised us. It's frustrating.So...they shouldn't fill out their bottom 6? Wtf?
You want more players than available spots at the bottom of the roster.Sure, but the Bruins now have (we'll say 8 on your belief Lauko and Studnicka don't need to make the team) 8 players for 6 spots.

My wish list? It's been asked about 3 or 4 times in two threads but who should they have been signing?
Danault would have been nice but where does he fit if Krejci is coming back? Oleksiak was drafted by the Kraken. I wanted Suter at first too but he just got 4 years as a 36-year-old and I want nothing to do with that deal. Getzlaf as a bottom 6 C sure I can see it, but otherwise meh. I am not sure any of the available players you listed are that big of an upgrade minus Danault if Krejci stays in the Czech Republic. I suppose you could have moved Coyle to the wing too.My wish list?
Philip Danault, Jamie Oleksiak, Ryan Suter, Ryan Getzlaf, hell even Alex Wennberg would have been an interesting add.
They can still do this, and these signings have zero impact on their ability to do so now or going forward.as going to afford them to get a difference making defenseman which was the biggest thing they needed to address.
The depth signings are what they are. They're not going to move the needle much come playoff time. If Sweeney is staying patient and waiting things out and then makes a big move , I'll be fine. But if all he does are these kinds of signings, does this put them in a better position to beat a team like Tampa or the Islanders come playoff time? They can still do this, and these signings have zero impact on their ability to do so now or going forward.
Your issue should be with the Forbort signing.
Just about $10m in cap space as of this moment, according to CapFriendly. The Bruins still have enough cap space to re-sign Krejci and a vet goalie. And they could open up more space if they can/choose to off-load DeBrusk, Wagner, Moore.
Yes, absolutely. The 4th line last year was absolute dogshit. The 3rd line was pretty dogshit too, although at least there you have an injury to the key player (Coyle) that really dragged it down. Haula, Nosek, and Lazar are all credible bottom 6 forwards that substantially improve the depth of the roster, and the ability of those bottom lines to not get completely manhandled the way that happened all too often last year. The depth signings are what they are. QFT. The most recent playoffs showed that having a viable 4th line is key. That viability can come from being an all-around good unit, but it seems to me the other way to build a 4th line is to pick a tool and load up on it--size, speed, defense, etc. 4th line being heavy is clearly helpful come playoffs. Offensive output is great, but even just to wear teams down. Tampa's run was definitely aided by Big Rig and his line mates. NYI had a pretty heavy team all around. Vegas seemed pretty heavy too, but I didn't watch the West as much, but I do remember that Avs-Knights series being very physical and it clearly left Vegas worn down against the Habs. I take this as a sign the Broons are looking towards the playoffs and aren't as worried about the top 6 or D as much.Yes, absolutely. The 4th line last year was absolute dogshit.
