OBJ signs with LA Rams. Wait, maybe the Packers... no it is the Rams.

can't play this week anyway, might as well get as much as he can
And this is only the biggest career decision he's ever made. Not only is he a free agent for the first time, if he flames out of a third location, that's it for him as a premium player. He's got a pretty large group of teams interested in him now. If he gets this wrong, that will never be the case again.

Why can’t he play this weekend?
It's taking this long to make up his mind ... imagine having him learn plays

I don't think a quick decision favors the Patriots. Better for you guys if he takes his time.
Not sure I agree. I think a not small part of the Pats interest is based on intel for this week even if he can’t play. I’m curious if the Pats interest is just as high if he can’t even get in a room and talk to them before Sunday

You think they’re bringing in OBJ for intel on the Browns? That’s what the secret cameramen are for.

Yeah, this sounds like nonsense to me. I don't think it is a factor at all. But if the Patriots lose interest after this weekend, no big deal. OBJ will have other options.

But I really don't think that will happen.

Weird... Don't all these teams know he's washed up and not that talented?

Joking aside, I was hoping this weeks opponent would be a little more persuasion in the Pats favor... I don't know if it's posturing at this point or if he's really weighing the options.

There's no way the Pats interest in OBJ (assuming the reports are accurate and there is interest) has anything to do with getting intelligence out of him for this weekend. That's ludicrous.

IMO, the Patriot leaks are posturing and being used for leverage. Their "significant" interest is translated to them offering good/the most money. To the teams I really want to join, please take note, and offer more so I can sign with you. We'll see how it plays out. Anytime you can add talent -- and while he's certainly diminished he would add something to the team -- you do it. KC would make a lot of sense without considering money.

Riddick must have really close sources who but confirmed the signing.

Knowing how much he respects BB there's no way he posts that otherwise, especially without any captions.
Lol, didn't he basically say during a broadcast Belichick told them in a production meeting he thought Josh Allen wasn't that good? Don't think he's the guy getting the inside scoop after that.

There is no universe in which the Pats interest in OBJ isn't genuine. They don't have a good WR corps, and options for upgrading are non-existent right now, and will be difficult this offseason. Both Bill the GM and Bill the Head Coach want to go all out to make the playoffs, as do the Krafts. Assuming Bill wants OBJ on the team (seems safe), then there is zero reason for Bill not to make the effort to land him. Bill doesn't have time to worry about driving up the price or picking OBJ's brain about the Cleveland offense.

Still, setting my expectations that he will land elsewhere, as there are better fits.

Well, prior to last year BB would have been right. Riddick could very well have sources with OBJ's camp in addition to Pats. That tweet just seems super confident of the WR signing with NE.

I agree 100%. Furthermore I would add that the last 3 weeks has likely changed the Pats outlook on going for it now. The AFC, as they say, is wide open. And the Pats look to be a team on the rise with improvements having turned around both lines.

If there's anyone that can help OBJ go from initial success with the Giants to a disappointing tenure in Cleveland to championship football in New England, it's Bill Belichick.

While I am very much in the pro OBJ camp, the one thing that worries me here is the potential (or likelihood) that they have to go 2-3 years to keep him from picking one of the elite QB teams. I'm still a believer in the talent and also that he'd be fine in this locker room, but his health concerns me a lot. At this point in the season I think it's pretty doubtful that anyone with even half his impact potential becomes available, so I'm fine pushing the rest of the 2021 chips in here, but it gets a little dicey to me that the offseason could be hamstrung before it even starts if they give him an actual deal and his shoulder goes again.

Yah. That’s exactly why I found that interesting.

Or he's just ruminating on what it might mean for OBJ if he'd sign with NE

Because Riddick‘s an analyst, I think he’s just publicizing his best guess rather than creating a sourced report. The absence of commentary seems just a cool 21st century way to get it out there.

But if you put up a photoshopped pic of him in a Pats uniform that implies a slightly better source than if you had just posted googly eyes.

ESPN has a story up that suggests OBJ might wait until after Sunday's games to make a choice.

It makes sense in that a lot of the teams supposedly in the running are fringe playoff contenders (Patriots, Chiefs, Seahawks, Saints). Another win/loss data point can't hurt in figuring out which of those teams are more legit. It also gives teams a bit more time to up their offers (and do any cap restructuring necessary to make that happen).

The story is based on what sources told Dianna Russini, who yesterday said sources told her that the field of teams he's choosing between had narrowed to three. She's usually pretty good, but her sources on this ongoing story seem limited.

Regardless of production, the OBJ experience has been a blessing for the NFL. A mid-season Bachelor contest is a far better distraction than the Rodgers and Ruggs stories as well as whatever other under developed frontal lobe + weekly car crash ugliness is lurking out there.
