Nobody Cares
We get off to a lackluster start tonight as the embattled Steelers take on the beleaguered Vikings in Minnesota.

Sunday night the Bears visit Green Bay. Monday the Rams take on the Cardinals in 'Zona.

bye week so I will be rooting for

Vikings over Steelers
Giants over Chargers
Lions over Broncos
49ers over Bengals
and even more:
Raiders over Chiefs
Browns over Ravens
Jags over Titans
and a little bit more:
Bucs over Bills

As a fellow Pats fan, I can't argue with any of these -- they're all pretty clear-cut.

Crap was really hoping to watch Bills vs Brady during my MLS Cup hangover ... but they 49ers game is on in the Northwest. Guess it will be the stream.

I’m not sure it’s lackluster. I’d argue it’s a de facto elimination game between two teams on the fringe of playoff contention.

The Vikings are 5-7. There will be at least one 9-8 playoff team in the NFC, so they need to win four of their last five. The Vikings still get to play the Bears twice, so if they win those two and beat Pittsburgh tonight, they’ll probably snag a playoff berth if they can upset either the Rams or the Packers. On the other hand, if the Vikings lose tonight they almost certainly have to win out, which is exceedingly unlikely.

The Steelers are 6-5-1. They probably need to finish 9-7-1 to have any shot at a playoff spot, so that requires them to win three of their last five — MIN, TEN, @KC, CLE, and @BAL. I don’t see a path to winning three of those last four (the Browns game is the only one where they might be favored), so they really need a win tonight too.

The question is, which team will snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. My bet is Minnesota

I'm actually torn. I was sure I was rooting for the Vikings, but I really think the Steelers are bad and that it would be better to have a bad team make the playoffs in the AFC. Especially if the Patriots end up the two seed playing the first weekend. I'd much rather play the Steelers than the Chargers, Colts, Bengals or even Browns in pretty sure.

This is well put, and I completely agree.

I have an in-game parlay of Steelers +3, under 43.5, and under 252.5 passing yards for Ben. I feel great about it pre-kickoff, looking forward to being hopeless by the end of the first quarter.

It's pretty wild that Justin Jefferson had like 1500 yards and 18 TDs playing against top competition in college, ran a 4.4 at a good size, and then a bunch of NFL front offices somehow decided he was only the 5th best WR in his class.

Why are the Vikings so mediocre? Seems like they have a reasonably talented roster. Simmer sucks I guess?
They are like the anti Ravens this year. If you attribute the Ravens record to luck the Vikings record is bad luck.

Zimmer sucks - they have great talent but he has no idea how to put it all together

Hard to be better than middling with a fringe-average QB earning top dollar.

Cousins is not fringe-average
Where would you rate him?

Vikings are 10th in yards per pass attempt despite having arguably the best collection of skill players in the league when everyone is healthy. Cousins’ ultra-low INT rate this year is out of line with his career norms and is probably an aberration.

Off the top of my head, I’d rather have Mahomes, Murray, Allen, Wilson, Jackson, Rodgers, Brady, Prescott, Carr, Burrow, Herbert, or Stafford right now. For the long haul, I’d add Jones and Lawrence to that list. So maybe “average” would be more apt than “fringe-average.”

That was an incredibly awful job of punt-return blocking for the hold. Nike is probably still barking at the screen
