I’m not a Kyrie fan, but I’m also not a Stephen A Smith fan either. It was him calling it disrespectful, not Nash What’s really that bad that, instead of just going home, you grab a few buddies and do some extracurricular practice?

Kyrie does plenty of things wrong, I’m not sure that this is one of them

I think to be honest that Beal to the Celtics has basically no chance of happening this summer. He's not opting in, he's opting out, which makes trading for him basically impossible in the summer. It would have to be at the deadline or next summer to really make sense. Even then I doubt it. Beal to Boston is mostly just a "he's best friends with Tatum" play, his fit is not that good, but more importantly, getting him here is REALLY tough under the cap unless he does something no other star has ever done, and I really doubt he does that coming off not only an injury but also his worst season ever. Lot can go wrong, and players like Beal know it.
Didn't Chris Paul opt in to make the trade to Houston work? Agree that it's a tough sell unless he REALLY wants Boston.

The age/injury thing is getting a bit overblown in Beal's case. He had a wrist injury, not lower body stuff, and he's 29. I think people are forgetting how good he was offensively even just one year ago.

What picks? The Lakers don't have a tradeable 1st round pick until the 2026 draft.
That pick, the 2028 one, and intervening swaps are really juicy, given how decent the odds are that the Lakers will be awful then, with little path to improvement.

I don't disagree really, but I think if you couple that with his "we don't really have a coach" quote and the fact that he's a mercurial douche nozzle I'd be willing to put some coin on the side of him not respecting Nash in the slightest.

Sure, it's always good to look at the future, but I can't fathom having a prime-ish Kevin Durant on your team and making a trade that would make that team worse on the court now. Even if Kyrie says he'll walk, I'd dare him to sign a max with a bad team before I traded him somewhere leaving my team much worse off.

Those would also be extremely liquid/flippable assets, immediately among the more appealing future pick obligations in the league.

What's just totally unknown is what Durant is saying to Nets, right? He could be believably be anywhere from "get me out of here" to "run it back".

I realize the public reporting is that he remains all-in and supportive of Kyrie. I just have no idea whether that is true or not; Durant is a smart guy who thinks about legacy and you'd think he would realize by now that Kyrie is a cancer. But who knows?

The combined implied probabilities is about 180% and I’m sure the limits are infinitesimal. These types of odds are just sports book ads and should be ignored.
There’s also no real information out there related to this. The odds are just what some bozo at BetOnline decided was “good enough” and they’ll mostly stay that way until rumors start swirling.

Zach Lowe had Jonathan Givony on his podcast today, they both said that while nothing is official, they have heard from a number of people that Beal is going to sign with the Wizards and everyone seems to think it's done.

Even if the money worked, you can't make that deal and feel confident it's the missing piece.
If he’s healthy, the fit is nice. But we’ve been through that fun before. We’ll see if CHA has any takers for that $61M balance for a mid first in a weak draft.

If healthy, nice doesn’t cover it. He’s a perfect fit: switchable, ball mover, strong two-way player, seems to be positive Clubhouse influence. Heck, healthy he might be the second best player on the team. Sadly I’m not sure which is the bigger obstacle, the money or the fact that he’s made of Balsawood and papier-mâché.

Yup. And wasn’t Kyrie the one who threw the pass that basically ruined Hayward’s career trajectory? That guy destroys everything he touches.

That’s correct. A lob from Kyrie and old friend Jae crowder kind of undercut Hayward in the air…

If I employed PJ Tucker I would gladly trade him for Thybulle & 23.

Thybulle also only makes $4.4m. Seems crazy to think that every team wouldn't take that package if that's really all it was.

I guess they are convinced Thybulle is never going to be playable on offense. He started 50 games for that team last season and now he's being stapled to a first round pick to make room for PJ Tucker.
I don't know where the Tucker thing comes from but Woj said that they are shopping Thybulle and the pick for veteran win now help not a salary dump.

PHI could never clear cap anyway they'll offer Tucker the MLE

I thought the reason for Tucker opting out was that he could re-sign with Miami for a larger salary.
Not sure he can get a larger salary, my understanding his desire is likely to get more term. 2 or 3 years. Not something I'd want to do for a 38 year old wing

I think that's got to be poor reporting. I think there are many teams that would take Thybulle off their hands.

NEW YORK — Los Angeles Clippers forward Nicolas Batum is declining his $3.3 million player option to hit free agency, but it is widely expected that he will re-sign a new two-year deal, league sources told Yahoo Sports.

It is anticipated that the Los Angeles Lakers, Chicago Bulls, Boston Celtics, Phoenix Suns and Utah Jazz will have strong interest in trying to pry away the 14-year veteran from Clipper Land, sources said.

But the Clippers are in the driver’s seat, sources said.

The free agency period begins June 30.

not reporting at all, it's someone here posting that, all the reporting has nothing to do with cap space
It’s being reported here in Philly. The speculation is they’d offer Tucker a 3 year / $30M contract but need the space first. I agree it makes no sense but it’s not message board stuff. Shockingly, there is no interest in Tobias Harris on his contract.

Is it being reported or speculated? Despite how fuzzy the line is these days, they are not the same thing.

Well not cap space, I assume that would be using the Full MLE. The money for Tucker would likely come by cutting Danny Green ($10M fully non-guaranteed) but that hard caps you and they'd be over, so they need to cut money ($4.4M plus whatever it takes to flesh out the roster), Thybulle makes a bit less than what they need (only 4.38M) so he's not exactly an ideal salary dump.
Now... there is a chance they agree to a long term deal sub-max for Harden that reduces his salary this year and they save a bit there. Overall though, it looks tough without moving Harris.
I guess you could... cut Green, use Thybulle and the pick to dump Korkmaz and maybe bring back a cheap player, add Tucker, bring Harden back with a slightly lower number, then fill out with vet min guys.

Did Danny pass? Did Boston make that decision?
yeah that seems like revisionist history, BOS offerred him a strong deal, he declined, they started looking at S&T deals to IND and then CHA made a ridiculous offer.
I don't think there was much hand wringing once CHA came over the top at $30M a year.

I'm not clear on that one, but didn't Gordon pass because he knew he had a Charlotte offer like that in hand? Or did Mitch Kupchak actually -not- tamper?
my recollection was people being pissed about Hayward going to Charlotte,
when actually people were more ticked that Danny didn't get assets from Indy in an S&T...my bad

Charlotte offered a lot more than anyone thought, it has quickly come back to bite them

All, per Woj twitter

Detroit has traded Jerami Grant to Portland for 2025 first-round pick via Milwaukee, sources tell ESPN. The 2025 first-round pick via Milwaukee is protected Nos. 1-4, sources said. Detroit swaps 2022 second-round picks -- getting 36 for 46 -- with Portland, too. Detroit gets a 2025 second-round pick back from Portland, and Portland sends the most favorable 2026 second-round pick between Portland and New Orleans to Detroit, sources said.

Detroit sends Grant into a $21M trade exception, and Pistons now have $43 million in salary cap space for free agency.
