So, guys still out there who we've talked about:

TJ Warren
Divencenzo
Bruce Brown
GPII (though hvae to think back to Warriors)
Oubre
Otto Porter
Rubio
Delon Wright
Jalen Smith

Plus, Gallo.
From that list, bring Bruce Brown home please.

Use the TPE to get your bench scoring.

Sounds like Gallo's out because the Bulls are offering more.

Several of these names look like potential good options for the Celtics.

That being said, we have hit the point on free agency day where I irrationally worry that Brad has fucked up and we aren't getting anyone good.

Gallo is quite possibly toast. A second year at 7M isn't going to break the bank but I wouldn't really stretch for him. I'm not particularly high on Huerter but it's not my money and I think he has a shot to be a useful top 8-9 guy.

If picking between those 2 I'd strongly prefer Huerter as I don't have high hopes Gallo will be a useful rotation piece in 2023. And even less hope for 2024. He's slow already and has had a lot of knee issues.

I like Gallo at 1/$6.5M, anything else I'm not that interested.
I like Huerter either way, but I think I wait to see what shakes loose in some of these trades (and also if the price comes down when ATL looks at their Tax bill).

I'm curious to see if Porter is available at the TPMLE or if someone gives him more.

The blue line on that scatter graph is practically useless. Gallo's DARKO numbers look like the sheet music to Van Halen's "Eruption".

I don't have a beef with either Gallo or Huerter...if we can't do better.

Woj: Once the San Antonio Spurs finalize the expected release on forward Danilo Gallinari, his preference is to join the Boston Celtics upon clearing waivers, sources tell ESPN.

Is this Woj saying a deal is done without actually saying a deal is done (like he does with draft picks), or should this be read more narrowly.
I am pretty sure it’s the first thing. He’s trying to be cutesy with his wording but this seems like confirmation that he’s going to sign with the Celtics

I would guess Gallo is getting a significant chunk if not the full MLE, which would obviously explain all the inaction on other MLE guys.

What do we think about his defense?

This would be a huge get for the Celtics if they could grab him for the minimum.
It would be. Will be interesting to see. I would think a 24 year old guy with a ton of upside, would likely be interested in the place that offers him the most playing time opportunity. Obviously if he takes the minimum this year, it is to try and get back to at least MLE next season

Not the worst, but not good. Have to see how much of his recent decline is age and how much is playing for the Hawks.
I think it was Forsberg? who had a stat that he was pretty decent in PnR last year, but got blown up down low.
He had some lineups that defended pretty well, so I think there is a decent chance he's pretty playable on that end. He'll be our worst defender, but I don't think he's that bad, and if teams want to post him... well that's a trade I'll make.

As much as I have been hoping for quality additions with the MLE/TPE, I’ve maybe been more curious about potential vet min deals like this. The kind that real contenders annoyingly collect. If we can get a couple of these deals for actual players it will be a good sign of the team’s status around the league as well as player/agent perception of Brad and Ime.

Good to keep perspective that if the Finals against GS were played ten times with TL fully healthy, we win 4 or 5. We don’t need a lot. Get healthy, beef up the bench and take another crack at it.

I expect it might be a while on the TPE. Nobody wants to move guys until they know where the Durant deal is headed.

Agreed that TPE likely delayed by Durant deal. A chance that also makes it more valuable as an enabler of that deal, but will be complicated max hard to predict

Who the hell is available for the TPE now? If the Clippers aren’t trading people, the options are pretty shitty. The decision to pass on Burks may be a dumb one

My guess is Atlanta didn’t want to help Boston out and preferred shipping him away.
Perhaps, and unless the Celtics were willing to give up 2 #1 picks, the Sacramento deal is likely a better deal than Boston could offer. Good chance they get a pick in the teens rather than the late 20s

After seeing the protections on the pick, the Celtics couldn’t have matched that offer. There’s a good chance that’s a pick in the teens, so the Celtics would have had to have added another 1st

We really couldn’t beat that offer for Huerter? That 1st is likely just a 2nd.

Edit - nevermind didn't see the protections. Figured it was just a top 14 protected that turns into a 2nd.

Is there any way that we could use it to facilitate the trade of BYC Ayton to the Nets for KD?

The bet is that the Kings are somewhere in the 8-11 seed range in that time, in which case the Celtics would have had to send 2 1sts to top it, since the Cs will be picking in the mid 20s for awhile. Generally, you can't move up to 15 for two 25s.

I'm on my phone, so can't copy & paste well.

Per Woj, for Brogdon the Celtics are giving up Theis, Nesmith, a 2023 first round pick, Stauskas, Malik Fitts, and Juwan Morgan.

Backcourt is extremely solid now.

We do still need to address the 4/5, was a need before, but even more so without Theis (wasn't playable in the post-season, but would have been good to rest TL/AH in the regular season).

Does PP get traded now? Hard to see where he plays.

POBOBS has played this near-perfectly. If you’ve used your biggest bullets and only have vet min salaries to dish out to fill any remaining gaps, the best gap to have is bench big. Credible guys are always available at cost. Bryant would be nice.

That said, they do still have a big bullet with the TPE as well.

White + Grant for John Collins

Do it Brad
Hm…I kind of like that trade.

Literally the only thing this roster needs is someone to replace Horford as he ages out. Now that’s really fucking hard to find but Collins is probably the closest thing that they can acquire. Don’t love losing Grant and White but they’ve got cover for them now.

Regardless, it does seem like the roster is unbalanced currently. Moving Pritchard for a wing or big seems like the easy fix

I don't think you need a long term Horford replacement. I think you have gone ultra big in part because of Al's rare combination of skills
Long term the answer is probably more Tatum at 4 and getting 2 of Brogdon/Smart/White on the floor at almost all times
