Just before half, Forest is up 1-0 on Fulham, Ayowini (sp?) with a well worked goal. Entertaining game. Fulham have had the run of play but not any joy. Willian looks not half bad. Mitro has been quiet.

Jacob Ramsey goal has the Villans up on Soton at the half.

It’s hard to tell at times what is knocking the Wolves players over. Breeze? Ground vibration from other players running? It’s baffling.

Holy shit, that was brutal.

Now Wolves need a yellow for simulation, a beautiful goal, and teammates coming to blows to complete the Portuguese soccer bingo card.

Looks like Reus just did his knee again. Had to be stretchered off and was very visibly upset. Such a shame he’d had a nice run the past couple of years

Bournemouth playing a perfect underdog match.

Until just now as it looks a likely VAR handball call…

Isak with a really well taken PK.

Shockingly, that was an excellent use of VAR.

Lloris saves a PK early vs Leicester, but didn't have his foot on the line so a retake occurred they Tielemans did not miss the second time around.

Spurs playing down very early.

Tottenham probably wins this match like 4-2 or 5-3 but you really see the limitations of Conte's brand of football in matches like this one. They are at home against the bottom team in the table and they have no control.

I think Son is the best I've ever seen at shooting from that range with both feet. Shots outside the box are speculative for most attackers but Son is just deadly on both feet from ~20 yards out.

does Rodgers survive the international break?
Reportedly he signed a 10m/year extension in January that runs through 2025, so it would require a huge buyout to axe him, and Leicester are supposedly not doing great financially right now. But Rodgers is certainly managing like a guy who wants to be paid to go away.

3-4-3 is not a “control” formation at all even when it’s working well.

The hope for Spurs fans is that Skipp gets healthy and Bissouma gets more comfortable and Spurs then have the option to more often use the 3-5-2 they’re in right now when control is needed.

Maybe ownership should have held off on that extension if they knew they weren't going to back Rodgers in refreshing the squad. Everyone walks away with dignity

Well, it’s a sunk cost. Expecting they axe him this week and go with an interim guy. They could make a huge statement by hiring Poch. But I doubt he’d want it and I doubt they’d pay him what it would take to get him.

They will sack him and they will get relegated. It’s not just Rodgers , they have all kinds of problems.

I did not see any of the game, but wow, Sonny did not like coming off the bench, huh?

No Odegaard, no problem for Arsenal. Up 2-0 in the first half hour on two headers. Amazing how much better Arsenal appear to be in the air compared to previous years. First goal was Saliba off a corner. That kid is special. Glad mikeford was wrong about him never seeing a minute of playing time for Arsenal. Certainly seems that the way they handled his development worked out.

Also of note. 15(!!!) year old Ethan Nwaneri was named to today's Arsenal squad.

He's primarily been starting for the u18 squad with a few call ups to u21.

If they're still up 3, they should absolutely put the kid in in the 89th minute.

And he gets in at the 92nd minute! Youngest player in PL history.

Everton are really light in attack. They're not a bad side, i just never expect them to score. I wouldn't be shocked if West Ham nick it late in the game.

Maupay with the kind of finishing quality that Everton are in desperate need of.

Huge win for Everton.
Yep. That bit of quality from Maupay was what we’ve been missing.

Attack is still light- Gordon was very quiet- but the back snd midfield have solidified so there’s a base to build on. 7 pts from 7 is not top form but OTOH if you’d asked me if I’d be happy with 6 goals conceded in the first 7 games but we won’t tell you the points total I’d have grabbed it with both hands. Second clean sheet in a row, especially with Pickford out, I’m good.

Not crazy about the tactics. Pumping crosses with no DCL, 5' 8", Maupay, and Gordon who just is not good in the air and does not get in the end of those, is dumb. Gray (MOTM) Gordon and Maupay are all pacy and clever and Everton were passing well, should have kept it on the floor more.

If you watch this side every week you see progress, not good enough yet but much better.

Juventus handed Monza their first Serie A win.

Ever.

Di Maria lashed out with an elbow because he’s fucking stupid. He didn’t connect with any force but got sent off anyway. That’s exactly why I didn’t want him on the team. Whatever talent he has, he’s got no self-control whatsoever and gets himself sent off on a regular basis.

Bonucci is a train wreck. Whatever Chiellini did to hold the guy together was goddamn heroic.

Dybala continues to look like what we all knew he could be for freaking Mourinho of all managers. My brain hurts.

The board continue to back Max but its insane. The team have absolutely given up on him. He can’t continue.

Becker to Jordan! 1-0 Union.

Wish the USMNT could get guys like that.
I missed the game this morning but just saw the highlights. I’m gonna be pissed watching Pepi at the WC instead of Jordan flashing for a header in from of Harry Maguire. I won’t be surprised though with Gregg.

The Athletic reporting that Brighton are poised to hire de Zerbi to replace Potter.

Sassuolo were the Brighton of Serie A in 2019-20 & 2020-21. He then jumped to Shakhtar, which ended with the chaos of the Russian invasion.

Potter’s huge shoes will be tough to fill, but de Zerbi had Saussoulo play a front foot, hard pressing style. The mentality and talent at Brighton should be a good fit.

Monza tonight is going to be like one of those college towns when a FBS school beats a giant, except x1000
The folks in Monza tend to be focused on another sport to disappoint them, so I tend to agree that they’re going to grab on to this one.

They dominated, too. Juve had two shots on goal and 40% possession.

Di Maria‘a red didn’t cause this by any stretch (though I hope he misses the World Cup with pinkeye). Juventus are poor at every office level- ownership, football operations, and management. They should have the talent level to compete, but it’s not clear that they have the right individual pieces to gel or form a cohesive system.

At this point they’ve given up on Allegri. I hear Tuchel is available…
