I am so sad that Xhaka back heel didn't go in. That might have been the goal of the season.

Arsenal looking the more dominant team and deserved to put one in the back of the net. Pretty shot by Partey.

Conte seems to have gotten his tactics spot on. Doesn't make for much of a spectacle when Arsenal has the ball, but Spurs looks so menacing on the counter.
Tottenham’s strategy.. foul the crap out of an arsenal player, not get called, get a counter due to non-call.

So that foul isn’t a pk?

Edit: didn’t realize it was cool to win the ball back by putting an elbow in a players back from behind.

Richarlison adding his mug to most punchable faces on Spurs with Kane and Son

Every time you look at that second goal it’s worse for Lloris. He’s really fallen off a cliff.
Like the commentator said.. it was a weird almost pass back.. but the initial save was pretty bad not to hold it or punch it out farther imo

I think it’s orange, but you can’t give a red for that after waving on obvious fouls and refusing to give out any cards for 60 minutes.

I’m so happy for Gabriel Jesus. He’s so dynamic again. He looked like this when he first joined City and spent years just getting more safe and becoming just a grafter. He’s so fun to watch again

I’d say harsh but entirely plausible red. Very dumb to foul at all though, terrible all around by Emerson.

I hate when the NLD is the early Saturday game. Nothing like having your weekend ruined before breakfast Saturday morning.

I don’t think Conte’s system is going to bring enough results in this league. Almost every team has a player that can break a defense with an individual moment of brilliance. The top teams all can take down the low block. There are too many hotheaded players that can do something stupid at any moment, and his keeper isn’t reliable anymore. Spurs are dramatically improved, but I don’t think it’s anywhere near enough to compete.

I don’t know that the league has changed that drastically since last season when it got them into the CL.

If you mean true title contention, you might be right, but they also don’t have the squad to make that run particularly in this year which will badly stretch teams, so hard to pin it on just the tactics.

The Guardian shows Pulisic on the bench, but an NBC graphic didn’t. I trust the Guardian. Hopefully our boy gets some run and impresses Potter.

Great win for the Arsenal.

William Saliba is the truth. I'll be on pins and needles until he signs a new contract.

I thought Kulu was a big miss for Spurs. Richarlison just doesn't offer the same things in terms of ability to hold the ball up, ride challenges, and do something creative and penetrating with it, etc. Spurs just don't carry the same danger on the counter without him. I don't think they created a real chance on the counter - from open play at all, really - all match.

The red card is definitely a situation you see called either way. I think what tipped the balance is that Emerson really had no excuse, it wasn't like he was making a challenge and then followed through, or misjudged what would have been a good tackle and simply arrived a split second late. He basically just ran over and brainlessly spiked him on the high ankle.

He really does look like a completely different player. Much more dynamic , energetic and confident. I never much rated him at City but he’s turned into a really good player.

Merseyside was also the early game. Supposedly they’re putting these high passion games early to limit the drinking time beforehand
