I never understood why MLB didn't just move Milwaukee back to the AL when the leagues were unbalanced. Well, I get that the commish had an interest in keeping that Cubs rivalry alive, but it feels like that made the AL Central perpetually mediocre.
I think a combo of that rivalry and wanting an Astros-Rangers rivalry.

IIRC, the Rangers quite reasonably wanted a division opponent in the same time zone for their TV package. Before the Astros, they were two time zones over from the other 3 divisional opponents.
