It’s smart. After a first down the clock will start with the play clock around 30, after a scrimmage play it’s at 40. You need to call three timeouts anyways, by waiting you preserve about 10 seconds
Makes sense, though there were plenty of chances that drive earlier to take a TO and save 40 seconds.

Overall, waiting that long isn't helpful because it gives the offense more options on 3rd down.

I haven't been closely watching most of this game, but Michigan's OL has looked atrocious in the 4Q
