Trevor just had to keep it in play, no one was further back to make the "punt return" interception. The moment is feeling slightly too big for him, he'll have another 1-2 opportunities.

This is the season in a nutshell. Defensive lines dominate. QBs just can’t get the ball out. Even when they finally get a second they are hearing footsteps. Either you beat them with a screen or you have a QB who can scramble for a big third and twelve in the fourth quarter.

Not Lynn (or Ocean Side)
I get the part where they let the play go, but if they’re going to do that then “indisputable video evidence” has to go out the door. You can’t “fix it later,” as Troy is saying, if the on-the-field ruling is biased toward an outcome.

I don’t have any issue with the ruling it was a fumble. I thought the ball was knocked out of his hand, too.

I like the practice of letting it play out. But if they do that you can’t also then defer to the call on the field.

There they confirmed and it was a fumble. But all these replay rules and principles can conflict.

Edit — or what Fred said already.

The conflicts only matter when the League wants to justify a decision. Otherwise it’s just a guy in a room making it up as he goes.

Could someone please help me reconcile “let it play out” with “forward progress has been stopped”?

Lawrence didn’t look all that great and the D beat up on Josh Dobbs in the second half.

Glad the Jags won. But football is close to broken. They need to tweak the rules to help offensive lines just a little. The balance is too far shifted.
