Tactical fouls my friend. You know about those.

Why didn’t Haaland play? Hehehehehehe
Seemed to me that City had some pretty cynical fouls at the end of the first half… not like contact was one sided.

The only way I can see it not being off in terms of him not impeding defenders is that City’s defenders were running back.. if Rashford wasn’t there they still wouldn’t have caught up to the ball and Bruno still would have scored.. still seems like Rashford was over the ball though.. VAR did confirm that there was no clear and obvious error according to Rebecca.
I understand what you’re saying, but no.

He literally draws his leg back to fake a shot or pass.

Everton’s Board of Directors have been instructed not to attend today’s Premier League fixture against Southampton because of a “real and credible threat to their safety and security".
Chairman Bill Kenwright, CEO Denise Barrett-Baxendale, Chief Finance & Strategy Officer Grant Ingles and Non-Executive Director Graeme Sharp have reluctantly accepted the outcome of the safety assessment carried out by security advisors.
The Board members received the instruction following malicious and unacceptably threatening correspondence received by the Club and increasing incidents of anti-social behaviour – including targeted physical aggression - at recent home matches.
A Security & Safety Advisor said: “Following a thorough risk assessment, and in response to tangible threats received by the Club and intelligence we have gathered, the Club’s Board members have been told they must not attend today’s fixture.”
A Club spokesperson added: “This is an unprecedented decision for Everton Football Club – never before has our entire Board of Directors been ordered not to attend a match on safety grounds. It is a profoundly sad day for Everton and Evertonians.”

That’s a statement from the club. Thing is, the board doesn’t have to attend. This smells of an attempt by the board to make the fans look bad. Fans are out in force with “sack the board” protests today. Even if these threats were credible, why release this statement beforehand snd inflame things, other than to avoid looking like cowards?

Some reports on social media that CEZo Denise Barrett Baxendake was put in a headlock by a fan after the Brighton game. If it happened that’s horrible but- That was two weeks ago and there was no report then, no investigation or arrest. It smells bad.

its remarkable.

you have to wonder- are they better with Haaland? It’s ludicrous to think otherwise, right, but looking at their attempts to level in stoppage time, it was not the fluid attack I expect from City, looked more like “look for the cross to Hasland” at the exclusion of anything else

To me DeBruyne has lost a step.. how many through balls did he have all game?

if nothing else the keeper changes positioning

We all know that if it’s Ings or Mbuemo or Che Adams on that exact same spot at Old Trafford they don’t get that call
To me DeBruyne has lost a step.. how many through balls did he have all game? Commentators said that Haaland was making a ton of runs and getting zero passes.

I’m sure teddykgb knows more of what’s happening at midfield with them but Haaland has basically been there offense.. is he basically just clogging the middle and becoming the only target?

The “malicious and unacceptably threatening correspondence” is from wingnut disgruntled Everton supporters?

Oh I know he’s a diehard city fan.. just as a neutral fan I think the ref was pretty consistent on fouls.. the offside call notwithstanding.

I’ve met her btw. Chatted for a few minutes, she met the NYC Evertonians at our pub. She’s about 4’11. If she’d been assaulted I find it very hard to believe we’d not have heard of it.

Purportedly and I don’t doubt that there have been hostile messages. But FFS **** why release this 90 minutes before kickoff, you reluctantly have deciddd not to attend, if only to make yourselves look like the victims? The board doesn’t have to attend and often they don’t. Moshiri hasn’t been to a game in months. The answer is so you don’t look to the world like cowards. Or you go, and you put a few more cops on.

He was not in any way consistent on fouls. My team is playing awful slow football so in a karmic sense we deserve what we are getting for points but Malacia ran through the back of Mahrez 4 times without even a card shown. fernandes got away with an extremely late sliding tackle without even a yellow. Casemiro bundled over Cancelo in the box without getting the ball and also took Haalands shooting foot from behind at the end which is a call we keep seeing made.
It was a derby and sometimes the ref cards early to assert control and sometimes lets them play but United got almost every decision and surrounded the ref to get an offside overturned for a goal.

Again, though, the best City teams overcome all this nonsense and this team looks absolutely worn out. So Zomp can have a little fun as he full well knows that was an absurd goal but they’ve not had a lot to celebrate over there and for once they seem to have a decent manager who knows what he’s doing

City look worn out. That’s it really. Deeper than Pool so not as dire but also showing the wear and tear from the past few years

Hit on Alisson wasn’t that bad but the commentators are going out of their way to say unintentional and no arm out. His arm was out and there’s no reason for him to be running right there. He had literally the whole field he shouldn’t be coming close to making contact with the keepr

I don't think starting Oxlade Chamberlain gives Liverpool much of anything in attack. It's a safe option, but he doesn't impose on the game. He's not giving anyone a tough time.

I hope Doak gets more than a 5 minute cameo.

And what happened to Carvalho? At least he’d give you some dribbling and pace. Not sure how ownership can watch this team and think we can afford to not sign a midfielder during the winter window.

I’m going to go about my day so last post on that farce of a decision but what now needs to happen is that a defender who sees a ball like that played has to go scythe down the attacker who is carrying but simultaneously not carrying the ball so that the offside can be called

Woof
-Liverpool has no midfield to speak of. They did nothing to prevent Brighton's offense from setting up and pass around for long stretches and they did nothing to connect the defense to the forwards. There were at least 3 times where there was a LFC goal kick and Brighton won the ball back before the tv could cut away from a replay. Pathetic
-Trent might just need to be benched. He got pantsed by Mitoma multiple times that half and looked afraid of him by the end. And he got caught way too far upfield especially considering LFC barely had any sustained possession to speak of
-on the plus side, Konate continues his great form from before the World Cup break. He shut down everything that came into his area calmly and quickly

I'd like to see Carvalho or Doak coming on for Ox. The team seems so flat right now, a bit of youth wouldnae go amiss.

Toffees lead on Onana’s first PL goal. He’s been immense in all phases. Everton the more attacking side but have been a little shaky at the back.

Inevitable from Brighton. That looked like Liverpool heavy metal football from 3 years ago

What's crazy is just how little Salah/Gakpo have been involved in the game. They are absolutely starved.
