Watched most of Dallas vs Miami tonight. Miami played a hideous game and shot 4 for 20 from three. In the playoffs they play such strong, scrappy defense that it works for them but they struggle so much on offense at times. It's hard for Bam and Butler to be their two best players because they aren't threats from three. They rely a lot on the Strus/Vincent types to come in and knock down shots but those guys just aren't consistent enough to pose a threat night in and night out.

17 boards from Loon. 45-35 advantage tonight

Not sure why he wasn't playing last night?
I guess maybe partly to save him for the CLE twin towers tonight? Could have used some more of his steady rebounding, screening, and all around high IQ play down the stretch last night (and maybe just a bit less of the Poole show).

Speaking of last night: for all the hand-wringing over the egregiously bad call on the OOB ball off Wiggins, it was apparently just one of six wrong calls in OT — the other five of which went against the Warriors. https://www.nbcsports.com/bayarea/warriors/nba-admits-refs-missed-five-ot-calls-hurt-warriors-vs-celtics

Still, fun game. I came away feeling pretty encouraged at the state of the Ws. despite the fact that they’re still wallowing in the #6-12 seed muck with the likes of OKC and Minnesota. At some point they gotta start stringing together some wins, tho…

So a three-second violation and a defensive three-second violation, neither of which was called all game? Ok lol. The 24-second “violation” was super close and looked clean in real time. I’d have to see that. The Horford foul he may have got some arm, but I guarantee that is not what the ref thought he saw. I think the Klay foul usually gets called.

But, really, they are supposed to START calling three second violations in OT? C’mon man.

Yeah, I didn’t feel particularly robbed by the refs in OT. Was way more annoyed at the Warriors choking away a game they seemed in control of for most of the second half.

Outside of watching how LeBron manages to continue to get his points despite diminishing athleticism, the Lakers are such a bore to watch. Just a bunch of guys, sloppy play, poor shooting. This game against Memphis is a sloggggg.

Agreed that wasn't a foul on Klay. I hated that whistle. The ball went right back into Brown's hands in the lane. Jaylen hit 1 of 2 FTs. The Horford foul on Wiggins 3pt shot felt like a make-up call.

All five Hawks scored FGs in the first 1:59 tonight, that has to be close to a record.

Adams is so important for that team, because they have like 12 all mouth no hands guys who love to talk shit when things are good, then pout when they aren't, but then need Adams as the only actual tough guy to step in and save them.

There was more of a foul on the shot than on the steal but probably shouldn’t have been a whistle there either. That was a clean strip by DS and Bane knew it too by his initial non-reaction and the “my bad” at end of the clip.

I didn’t realize that fans could threaten players without being ejected from the arena and barred from future games.

He hits the ball with his elbow/TRICEP and bashes the defender’s wrist/arm with the forearm. It’s not even close to a clean strip. Bane actually continued playing and complained after the whistle. He also grabs and pulls Bane’s other arm with his free hand.

This ain’t football:

You have to click on the “sensitive content” warning for some reason.

Wily play in that situation, sure, but also a blatant foul.

I think the wild nature of the swing makes it look much worse than it actually was. It looks like his forearm contacts the hand a bit-- definitely doesn't bash it-- and the replay in the second tweet clearly shows his offhand resting on Bane's hip.

Bane questioned the foul call….not the strip. He then turned to his teammate and said “my bad” with no reaction toward the ref. After DS slapped downward it was the ball that shot down to the floor….not Bane’s arm.

How could any contact not be a bash with that motion? He hit his wrist forearm swinging down as hard as he could. There are still shots of it as well.

I guess we’re parsing words on “bash,” but that is 100% a foul either way.

His arm doesn’t go down because Shroeder hooked it with his motion. He goes down, then pulls up and away to tear the ball out.

This is what makes the NBA awesome on top of having an incredible amount of talent. What a ridiculous scene!
It is awesome when it doesn't turn into a national conversation about the merits of your fanbase or city. Shannon is a former athlete, and a current member of the media, so the Lakers fanbase and city of Los Angeles will get to skip that part.

Yet Bane’s reaction to his teammate is “‘my bad.” C’mon now. This is a big stretch. DS got like 90% ball and maybe some hand/wrist. That’s simply not a foul. Has the 2-min report come out yet?

Ref had no way to see it since DS's and Bane's bodies were blocking his view of the ball being stripped. Can't blame the ref for not calling it.

Not really sure how much further this conversation can go, but here’s a still. He clearly hits his arm/wrist. If you don’t think that’s a foul, ok we’ll never agree. The L2M is not out yet fwiw.

Yeah, that must be what happened, though there are multiple officials on the court for a reason. This seems like something replay should automatically get right regardless. The system as it stands is the least effective of any replay system in sports by a wide margin.

I mean that still shot shows he got a part of his thumb. I’d be shocked if this came out on the 2-min report as a foul. We’ll see in a little bit.

Ugh, I hate that dude. Possibly the worst of the Dub Nation talking heads (and there are some bad ones to choose from). Athletic Alchemy is way more entertaining and not a whiner. For in depth basketball breakdowns, I love Eric Apricot’s Explain One Play series. And of course the guys that are good on hoops in general (Zach Lowe, Nate Duncan, Jason Timpf, e.g.) also tend to be good on the Warriors.

His Warrior 6yr NBA Ref Conspiracy Theory is insanity.

Playing small and being a jump-shooting team should lead to a FT shooting discrepancy. That's kind of the trade-off when putting small exceptional shooters on the floor all at once. Warriors/Kerr basically dare the refs to call fouls in the lane, while they put their hands on the lower back or slap down at the ball when beat. It's a good strategy at home but on the road when the whistle is different they'll have issues.

Seems to me there was a massive overreaction to what Skip said and now a pretty muted reaction to what Shannon did, especially with the WWE-style interview Shannon gave to ESPN. Maybe Shannon is leaving FS1 for ESPN and this is some kind of absurd stunt, who knows.

I am going to enjoy next Saturday night hosting the Lakers so, so much.

Schroeder is among my least-favorite ex-Celtics.

All their bullshit won't help them when it's a 30-point deficit.

Two-minute report says they got the no-call correct.

Any Warriors fan complaining about the refs is out of their mind. I can’t think of a team that gets a more favorable whistle than the Dubs night in and night out. I mean the fact that Draymond doesn’t get 2 technicals every game immediately puts them at the top of the list by a mile

Hack-a-Claxton in full effect in the closing minutes of the Warriors vs Nets. He just missed 2 FTs with 3:25 left to go in the game with the Warriors up by 5.

He and Simmons are damn near unplayable in the closing minutes of close games.
