The scoring is one thing. The D is the real story - it was sublime.
This is everything. I feel like Bill Belichick would spend 100% of tomorrow's walkthrough showing defensive highlights and jus saying "if you do this every night, you get a ring. Do your job"

The 2022 Celtics defense and the 2023 offense and depth would beat anyone in the NBA not just today, but since the 2016 Warriors. All they have to do is execute consistently---which, sadly, they have sucked at. So let's prove it.

Shake Milton is still a Sixer? I remember when he was instant offense for them a couple years ago. His star has fallen.

I think this is the key more than the defense. I mean Philly has missed a bunch of easy shots and some free throws, and Harden had two threes basically go all the way down before coming back up. They easily could have like a dozen more points right now without batting an eye. But the way Boston is taking care of the ball….just beautiful.
Game 1 defense (intensity) left a lot to be desired but the game would have been a win if not for the TOs.

Very much enjoying Grant’s “Not Sucking” phase.
Last quarter there was a play Tucker whined about not getting a foul call on a rebound attempt and Grant basically shushed him. Good little trash talk moment to signal that his head and energy are fully onboard despite sitting much of R1.

Been a while since we’ve had a game where the bitching shifts to why certain guys are still on the floor. For the record I agree TL shouldn’t be out there.

If the C's stop scoring, this one is going to look a lot closer than it really was.

It kind of feels like it’s as simple as switching less.

Like, if the top defenders commit to staying on the top players, that little bit of it being harder for Maxey/Harden makes a big difference. They aren’t getting the freebie looks tonight because we’re actually guarding the perimeter.

And Embiid keeping thing sslowwwwwww helps.
JB has been great at this, he's so physical up top that he can fight through.
