Last night was what's now considered an oddity- both home teams wore white.Same.
am I the only one who hates this trend of wearing away color jerseys at home and vice versa? Watching the Lakers play at Golden State with the gold jerseys just seems wrong. Much like seeing the Celtics wear green at home seems wrong.
Another example of how professional sports doesn't really give a shit about concussions?Did Rad Sox Fan or another MD weigh in on what might have happened to AD last night? IANAD, but he seemed to check all the boxes of a guy who had been concussed: staggering glassy-eyed back to the bench; seemingly unable to make eye contact with people around him; then having to get wheeled into the locker room. Yet somehow immediately after the game the Lakers were able to say with confidence that it was not a concussion. What was it, then?
We have a winner!Another example of how professional sports doesn't really give a shit about concussions?
"Back when I played they called it a headache, gave you some aspirin, and told ya to get back out there."Another example of how professional sports doesn't really give a shit about concussions?
It's the Lakers now, the NBA's pet franchise...A 1st round pick and $250,000 fine for violating the leagues concussion policy…..after they win a championship.
Jimmy Butler missing that shot is the defining moment of that series. It's all anyone *ever* talks about when discussing that series. And somehow, it's not "the number 1 seed Heat had Game 7 at home and Jimmy Butler had a chance to win it but couldn't come through" but "the Celtics got so lucky." Drives me crazy. There’s no NBA media thread but i think this is the closest thing to it. I believe this was also the thread where we were talking about the Lowe Post previously…
All that being said, I’m not sure if anyone listened to todays podcast but woof. I’m normally a big fan of Lowe and Beck together (and normally a big fan of Lowe) but I almost turned it off in the first 5 minutes.
I brought this up previously when discussing this pod (I believe it was with @PedroKsBambino) but Lowe rehashing multiple times that he’s made some correct prediction on TV or that he wrote something in a column 2 months ago is getting really obnoxious. It’s even more obnoxious when he’s basically yelling it.
This only bothered me as a Celtic fan but he said “And Game 7 last year, no one will remember because the Celtics won but Jimmy Butler almost made that shot!!!”. Zach, anyone that listens to any of your pods ever will remember that play because you bring it up all of the fucking time. It’s literally impossible to forget if anyone consumes any media you put out
While I agree with every word of this, the Celts helped create that perception -- being up by 13 with 3:35 left and then having your entire offense be five missed Marcus Smart shots opens you up to "Celtics dodged a bullet/got lucky."Jimmy Butler missing that shot is the defining moment of that series. Details, details. Lol.While I agree with every word of this, the Celts helped create that perception -- being up by 13 with 3:35 left and then having your entire offense be five missed Marcus Smart shots opens you up to "Celtics dodged a bullet/got lucky."
Kind of like Larry BirdFor a big slow ugly guy, Jokic is amazing.
Jokic is even bigger/uglier/slower But can't say more amazing.Kind of like Larry Bird
Yes. I think he did it last year too.Is that John Malkovich narrating this NBA Finals commercial?
He's probably top 10... he's really struggled since he came back from the most recent injuryDurant just isn't a Top 5 guy anymore, and I don't know how feasible it is to build around him, Booker and a bunch of role guys. I got some pushback but Durant just isn't in his prime anymore. He's got great size and skills, but he's lost just a bit athleticism that makes him a bit more guardable (but still obviously a tremendous offensive player).
And it’ll only go downhill. Bridges career was too much to give up.Durant just isn't a Top 5 guy anymore, and I don't know how feasible it is to build around him, Booker and a bunch of role guys. Hey man, I thought he was Top 3??????He's probably top 10... he's really struggled since he came back from the most recent injury
You were right when you first posted it. Booker is clearly the engine of the team. I think KD’s probably in the 15-20 range now?Durant just isn't a Top 5 guy anymore, and I don't know how feasible it is to build around him, Booker and a bunch of role guys. After seeing him get continually flustered in the celts/nets series last year, its more than just a recent injury thing. He seems to have lost a non-trivial amount of concentration/peripheral vision, and isn't a dependable terror for other teams D.He's probably top 10... he's really struggled since he came back from the most recent injury
He has definitely laid some eggs in the last 2 playoffsDurant seems to have been motivated by Tatum's performance tonight.
Given Denver's huge home court advantage, they may have enough to beat even a LAL/GSW team that plays well.No Western Conf team beats this version of Denver, but damn, Phx looks awful. On track to give up 80 in the first half.
81Allowing like 80 in a half of a playoff game is a joke.
