Home form has been poor. Last two away games. Brentford and Villa (cup, but both sides played close to a starting XI) Toffees win by a combined 5-2 and it could have been much more, near total domination in two tough parks for visitors. Everton fans always travel well and they took over the games.
At home they’re just scared of making a mistake. Too tight. I felt it at the game I was at in August vs Wolves, one of 4 this season where they dominated play, dominated xG but fluffed their chances and gave away crap goals, mostly on set pieces. Call it a lack of composure, you could almost feel the “oh shit” ripple through the crowd and the team in the pitch when something bad happened.
Today they’ve shown the exact same vulnerability on free kicks that Luton exploited (Mykolenko failing to get out to the wide attacker) and Tavernier had had a little too much freedom in the middle of the park, but their attacking play has looked good. Both goals were well taken, calmly struck.
