LAC/DEN is interesting because a DEN win is good for the Washington tiebreaker….but not good if LAC also loses to KC next week because the Chargers could jump the Pats in the draft pick order if the Pats beat NY.

So if the Pats lose next week, they’re probably picking 2nd, with a possibility of 3rd depending on SOS. If they win they probably pick 5/6? Does that sound right?

It seems like #5 could be the lowest possible pick with a win as Tenn has a considerably higher SOS %.

Damn gets interesting if we tie WA in SOS (sorry if this is a repeat post)

If the teams have the same strength of schedule, division or conference tiebreakers are applied. If the divisional or conference tiebreakers are not applicable, or ties still exist between teams of different conferences, ties will be broken the following tie-breaking method:

  1. Head-to-head, if applicable
  2. Best won-lost-tied percentage in common games (minimum of four)
  3. Strength of victory in all games
  4. Best combined ranking among all teams in points scored and points allowed in all games
  5. Best net points in all games
  6. Best net touchdowns in all games
  7. Coin toss

Washington beat us. Is that good or bad in the HTH tie breaker? I assume it should help us and tankathon.com is wrong

Chargers could have something to say about that. Could still be behind CAR, WAS, AZ, NYG, LAC.

Hopefully embedded Patriot Stidham does his duty for Denver and plays badly.

Yeah, that's right -- I thought there were two 5 win teams, not 3.

Tankathon's mock has Pats taking Daniels at #3 so it's safe to say his draft climb is continuing.

I just saw that Chicago is guaranteed the number one pick. Will they screw up another kid’s development?
I think they're going with MHJ. Whether that's at #1 or dropping down a spot or 2 I don't know.

If the three 5-win teams lose out and the Pats beat the Jets, there will be 4 teams with 5 wins (and maybe 5 if the Cards keep playing well - Washington isn't beating Dallas so they'll stick at #2). Do the simulations give us a feel for how they all sort out?

You will likely only be happy if they lose at home to the NYJ.
Hard to say, I think KC is locked into the three seed if they win today, so the Chargers aren’t DOA in that game. And Arizona/Seattle should be considered up in the air.

Not to mention that the SOS tiebreaker among the Giants, Pats and Chargers is TBD.

I’d be surprised if they picked MHJ at number one, that’s a QB slot and they probably won’t need to drop very far to trade out of it.

It seems likely that the Titans SOS will put them out of the running for a top 5 pick. The rest...man, it's all close.

On Jayden Daniels, QB LSU~

I just read a blurb on ESPN.com about Daniels declaring for the draft, skipping the Bowl and saying his goodbyes. The following bit is the type of thing that scares the hell out of me:

"In a video, Daniels said transferring to LSU restored his love for football after a bumpy end at Arizona State. He emerged as a top dual-threat quarterback in 2022 at LSU, passing for 2,913 yards and adding 885 yards on the ground."

Restored his love for football? I mean, he's a kid and all, but I would really rather not have to question whether or not my teams 1st Rd draft pick (especially a Top 2-5 pick), de facto team leader based on position and face of the franchise LOVES THE GAME. His talent is undeniable, but he has me wondering how he's gonna do if he doesn't have a loaded offense to work with. I swear...if this kid is a front-runner or mentally weak or is otherwise more likely wired to "transfer or quit" rather than face adversity and rise to an occasion ... I don't think I'd take him Top-2-5.

If anyone wants to talk me off the ledge or say I'm overreacting, please consider this a formal invitation... :)

I actually think Justin Fields is playing really well. Do you honestly think Chicago will take another QB? Will Chicago trade the pick to a QB needy team?
