Aaron Rodgers was pissed when GB did not bring him backGimme some background on his offenses folks!
any relation to Brad?Well, he was a terrible quarterback, so he should be able to identify with Mac and Zappe.
Or Scott?any relation to Brad?
When I think of 1970s New York Football Giant QBs, I think of Brad Van Pelt. I’d expect a better chance they are related than Scott, but that would be coolOr Scott?
So we blocked any potential for a reunion in NY? Worth it.Aaron Rodgers was pissed when GB did not bring him back

Then he's not a re-tread! He's merely without experience.I don’t think he even called plays in Cleveland, did he?
My memory is of those 2 games in 1997 against the Pats, in which he threw 5 picks in 19 attempts. https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/V/VanPAl00/gamelog/Well, he was a terrible quarterback, so he should be able to identify with Mac and Zappe.
18 years an assistant. Seems to have been around a long time. I'm not down on the guy, just not excited about him.Or Scott?
@patinorange, how is he a retread?
Had anyone mentioned his name at all during this process?
He also played for Buffalo, after Doug Flutie and before Drew Bledsoe. He called plays for the 6-10 Buffalo Bills back in 2009 the season that Dick Jauron got fired mid year.
Fired last week, interviewed today, appears to have been made an offer before he left the building.I didn’t know he was even interviewed.
Of the two internal front office guys, I’m a little relived that it appears to be Wolf making the decisions and not Groh.Worked with Eliot Wolf in Green Bay so this was likely someone Wolf suggested because it came out of nowhere.
I'm pretty sure they're splitting it with Groh getting all the college scouting portion and Wolf getting the Admin and pro stuff, basically their roles last year, but without Bill.Of the two internal front office guys, I’m a little relived that it appears to be Wolf making the decisions and not Groh.
100x this. The Pats also need a guy who can be a decent offensive coordinator, so hopefully he's that, but it's hugely helpful to have another guy in the building who likely knows and has worked with a lot of people throughout the league. Now that Van Pelt is hired I'm letting him work to build an offensive staff as he has a lot more connections around the league being with 5 previous organizations where Mayo is very limited in that capacity.
And Brissett is a free agent.Honestly the more you dig into his Browns seasons... this guy getting fired is kind of crazy. I get it's probably just Stefanski throwing out a sacrifice but.... they got shockingly good play at QB the last 2 years out of:
Jacoby Brissett
Washed Joe Flacco
I guess Watson struggled?
Opened up a potential reunion in Foxboro. So we blocked any potential for a reunion in NY? Worth it.
Let's hope his offense is worth more than a plugged nickelBetter than Lucy
Lucy was our holder this year, wasn't she? Which is why the Pats missed so many kicks!Better than Lucy
Lots of good perspectives in this chat, but I like the positivity of this one. If we can get the OL coach as well, that would be something. LFG!!!Honestly the more you dig into his Browns seasons... this guy getting fired is kind of crazy. Felger and Mazz were reading different articles and reports about Van Pelt today and apparently he and Watson didn’t get along.Honestly the more you dig into his Browns seasons... this guy getting fired is kind of crazy. We need just about all of the position coaches no? Troy is making like he's out. Sunsieri? No idea. I don't think Caley comes here to coach TEs again but who knows. Then there's the young QC guys you want to develop.Lots of good perspectives in this chat, but I like the positivity of this one. If we can get the OL coach as well, that would be something. LFG!!!
Makes me like him moreFelger and Mazz were reading different articles and reports about Van Pelt today and apparently he and Watson didn’t get along.
I wonder how much of that is the INTs... 23 total, good for last in the NFL.Unless I’m looking at the stats wrong, Browns were 5th worst in NFL in YPA and 7th worst in YPC. Which isn’t great.
I think there were rumors even before this season of a potential offensive coaching shakeup because of Watson being perceived as not a good fit for what Stefanski/Van Pelt were doing. More shotgun snaps, allow Watson to playmake, less under center stuff with crossers, more downfield vertical routes, etc.Honestly the more you dig into his Browns seasons... this guy getting fired is kind of crazy. Hell yeah, great hire.Felger and Mazz were reading different articles and reports about Van Pelt today and apparently he and Watson didn’t get along.
Browns fired their RB coach with Van Pelt (Stump Mitchell) who is well regarded. We need just about all of the position coaches no? Troy is making like he's out. Sunsieri? No idea. I don't think Caley comes here to coach TEs again but who knows. Then there's the young QC guys you want to develop.
