Fine move but we are going to need some bodies in the WR room. JJSS, Bourne, Thornton, Pop, Boutte. Has to be bottom three in the League as it stands now.

1000%. Parker not being on the field means someone, anyone, else can be, which is good.Parker out is addition by subtraction.
I think it depends on whether they think he can toe the line.Is Boutte not going to be moved on or suspended for gambling?
That is absolutely my wishful thinking, too. That would be a GREAT haul. LFG.Pats lock up Onwenu and grab Brissett, making the obvious pick at #3 a QB.
That leaves 2 tackles - or a tackle and guard spot depending in how they view Onwenu.
Gimme Tyron Smith, Calvin Ridley, Danielle Hunter, and I'm good with rolling into the draft with a QB/Tackle combo with our first 2 picks.
They almost certainly need another RB, so anything is possible. My preference would be getting someone like Aaron Jones on a reasonable contract. That would give them 3 solid running backs to lean on.With the Gibson signing this may be irrelevant (different RB roles understood), but how do people feel about Henry at RB? Best days are obviously behind him, but splitting the reps with Stevenson/Gibson could help extend his career a bit and Stevenson may not be around for much longer. I don't think Stevenson brings enough in return to justify a trade, but Henry intrigues given the likely rookie QB. Add Ridley at WR and go OT with the second pick, potentially trading up if there's a specific guy that you like most. I'd be ok with that plan.
Well…to be fair, the backup we just signed is better than either if the 2 QB we had starting last year.I’ll be honest. I like these deals in a vacuum because they’re good deals and not overpays. But right now we’re basically just running back the same offense that blew last year, so it’s putting a lot of emphasis on nailing the drafting. That’s not inherently bad, but I kind of want one more big piece outside of the draft. If the two FA adds are a backup QB and a third-down back, then you’re talking about still needing to add 2 WRs and a TE through the draft if no other moves come down later. Because Bourne and Pop need to be your WR3/4 right now and we still need another TE. Maybe they can get by with one more WR, but there still is nothing explosive happening in terms of skill players here.
Only Day 1. I’m sure they’re actively trying to upgrade those spots. I’m starting to think Ridley smoke might be real.I’ll be honest. It would be really nice to know what their cap situation is. I'm usually pretty good at estimating, but there really are too many variables right now.I’ll be honest. IDK. They could have won 6-7 pretty easily last year. Now maybe they are in the 8-10 range after it's all said and done. Baby steps. From a potential 4-5 win team to a 6-7 win team. I'm not sure what they can do to change that. A true bridge year.
He's probably going to have legit offers so no on Henry, but yeah he's a freak who will probably still be a top 10 RB next year. With the Gibson signing this may be irrelevant (different RB roles understood), but how do people feel about Henry at RB? Edit: much like KFP. Just add Henry too.
It really depends on whether we get CJ Stroud or Bryce Young at QB with #3 (or if have to play a middling Brissett for the entire season). From a potential 4-5 win team to a 6-7 win team. I'm not sure what they can do to change that. A true bridge year.
You want them to spend $20m+ on 2 safety spots? Even after the great year Peppers had (and his $6M contract hit)? He's probably going to have legit offers so no on Henry, but yeah he's a freak who will probably still be a top 10 RB next year.
Overall though, I think the RB depth chart is fine with a late round rookie.
My ideal remainder of FA is...
LT (Smith, but Williams is okay if Smith wants a contender, becton as emergency only)
WR- Brown ideally, but I'd consider Samuel, Boyd or Chark on the right deal
DL/Edge- Splash with Hunter would be great, but Young, or Wonnum (maybe even Lawson) would work
FS- Kurl, Fuller, Elliot
SS- work out a deal with Dugger (or I'm fine with him signing the tag)
Probably some other guys, but that would plug the major holes
Presumably in that scenario, Peppers is gone next year and Dugger slides into that openingYou want them to spend $20m+ on 2 safety spots? Even after the great year Peppers had (and his $6M contract hit)?
I had never heard of him until the Jets game at the end of last year, which I watched on red zone. Then I noticed him because of the name. He went off. He was basically everywhere all game. But that game seems like a bit of an outlier.Who here has seen him play meaningful minutes? I've never heard of him, and would love to hear an informed take. I see he tore his ACL in 2022 and came back from it exactly-ish a year ago. Here's a link to his stats:

from random twitter land: Wolf was in Browns front office when they drafted TakitakiI had never heard of him until the Jets game at the end of last year, which I watched on red zone. If I can only keep one of the two, it is Peppers.Presumably in that scenario, Peppers is gone next year and Dugger slides into that opening
Who had Sione Taktaki on their bingo card?
well really I want them to spend no more than 6-18M combined, but I'd go to 20 if it was 1 year tag money for Dugger. But generally... sure why not? the 3 safety looks are one of the keys to the Beliichick/Mayo defense, and they've pretty consistently spent there, (McCourty and Phillips for example were 2 of the top 10 or so highest paid guys on the team for a while). I'd rather lock in those 2 guys, see what Peppers looks like in a year, and go after CB/DT/ED/LB in the draft where the positions are deep most years. I doubt any of the guys mentioned are getting more than 2-3 year deals, which means 1 or 2 year commitments. You want them to spend $20m+ on 2 safety spots? Even after the great year Peppers had (and his $6M contract hit)?
had some nice moments as a returner, probably basically no guarantees in the deal, bring him to camp let him compete for one of the last roster spots.reagor? really?
Wolf has a Monday to do list and he'll be damned if he doesn't cross each task off.https://x.com/Schultz_Report/status/1767360794759451131?s=20

Breaking: The #Patriots are re-signing WR Jalen Reagor to a 1-year deal, source tells

What you're noticing is the acceptance stage, to be followed by blind optimismI love the optimism in here, though the comparison to me is striking relative to the Sox thread. So much positivity about basically bringing back the same team that went 3-14 last year — no big names, just Bourne / Henry / Onwenu / Reagor and others, and people are quite happy. We obviously have the draft coming up with #3, but we’re basically getting the band back together so far.
To be clear, I am excited too. I like all of the signings so far. I just think it is interesting.

Last year’s Patriots roster probably wins 8-9 games with Brissett. Or anyone else not named Mac Jones.I love the optimism in here, though the comparison to me is striking relative to the Sox thread. Last year felt like we went 3-14 with no plan. This year actually feels like there’s a plan in place. I’m happy to not be good if the team understands it’s not good. That was the failing of BB - he couldn’t see how bad the talent was.I love the optimism in here, though the comparison to me is striking relative to the Sox thread. They haven't signed anyone for more than 3yrs and outside of Owenu the players they have signed are all over 28 so not sure this tracks.Last year felt like we went 3-14 with no plan. The guys signed could be with the team 4-5 seasons. That’s way more preferable for a team in the Pats position than the big time 28 year old FA who’s effective for 2.
Gibson is 25, but I take your point. I thought Takitaki was younger and I always forget how old Duggar is.They haven't signed anyone for more than 3yrs and outside of Owenu the players they have signed are all over 28 so not sure this tracks.
Reagor despite seeming like he's been in the league a decade is only 25, Okorafor is only 26 as well.Gibson is 25, but I take your point. I thought Takitaki was younger and I always forget how old Duggar is.
It’s a camp body that staff is familiar with. These guys are needed too. This doesn’t prevent them from doing anything at all.
