    Pats QB Options

I’m fully prepared to relive the disappointment of draft night 2018 when Lamar Jackson was still on the board for both of the Pats first round picks. I kind of wanted him at 23 and then was cackling with delight when he was still there at 31 (Bill outsmarted everyone!) only to watch the Pats...

    2021 Golf Thread

I chuckled at the spoiled video. I’ve been out 3 times so far this year, and it feels like I’m on the verge of a big improvement. I have been improving since joining a club in 2018, and last season saw a big jump as my handicap came down from 16 to 11.7 at its lowest (finished the year around...

Nominations for best Boston area Play by Play and Color Commentators ALL TIME

PBP: Santos and Castiglione. The sound of their voices always went hand in hand with a fall afternoon working in the yard. Color: Heinsohn. Honorable mention to Gino Capelletti

    Pats QB Options

I tend to agree that they are unlikely to make a major trade up in this draft, though it all depends on how they grade the QBs who are likely to be available after No. 3. That said, I would love to get inside Belichick's head on this -- he must know that he doesn't have that many years left to...

New England Patriots Hall of Fame

Is there a published selection criteria? Given how much emphasis BB placed on special teams throughout the entire run, I think Slater (3x Super Bowls, 7x All Pro, 9x Pro Bowl) should be a lock. Larry Izzo (3 Super Bowls, 1x All Pro, 3x Pro Bowl), the special teams "ace" of the first dynasty...

    2021 PGA Tour

Jecra, I probably expressed myself poorly upthread. I did not mean to suggest that amateur golf should become a free-for-all with no rules on clubs, just that under a bifurcated system the pros would adhere to a stricter set of local rules. The rest of the golfing public could continue playing...

    2/2 Celtics @ Warriors

This team is allergic to holding leads. Theis launches a crunch time three (my least favorite trend this season), followed by a GW turnover and dumb foul.

    2021 PGA Tour

Sure, there will be some line drawing to be done at the outset, but it seems that the idea of bifurcation is aimed at reigning in distance at the top levels of golf. So I would guess that any bifurcated rules would cover the pro tours and open events. Events like the U.S. Am & qualifiers could...

    2021 PGA Tour

I don't see bifurcation as undermining sponsorship deals. My sense is that most of the changes that we might see implemented would be focussed on the driver (and perhaps to a lesser extent, fairway woods). The proposals specifically mention shaft length, club head size and COR. None of that...

Celtics New Alternate Uniform---Yay or Nay?

I like these more than the previous City Edition alternates. It’s at least a cool concept for an alternate jersey to highlight the franchise history through the banners. I would like to see what they would look like if you took the concept a step further and put a border around the numbers...

    Tompa Bay: Tom Tom Club

Tom is about 3,000 yards behind Brees for the all-time passing yards record (of course, if you count playoff games, Brady moves ahead). With speculation that Brees might retire after this season, Tom might only need to play one more season in Tampa to retire with the all-time records for Wins...

ACC Coaches to propose that all D1 teams make 2021 NCAA Tournament

Army, St. Francis, William & Mary and The Citadel are all in favor of this proposal.

    Deadspin defectors debut

I will probably throw them $8 at the start to support some of these folks who I have enjoyed reading in the past, but I can’t see myself spending that in perpetuity. If Deadspin was profitable through advertising, why not simply follow that model again?

"We're going to Disney World!" NBA to resume season July 31 at WDW

I can’t wait. If Kemba is healthy I think they are poised to make a run. The Celtics are 3 games back of Toronto and 2.5 ahead of Miami, so it’s likely that those last 3-4 games will be meaningless tune ups unless Toronto staggers out of the gate.

"We're going to Disney World!" NBA to resume season July 31 at WDW

I disagree that most fans just want to see the heavyweights fight it out. Not that some of those games don't live up to the hype, but a tournament that is mostly chalk is boring. I think people would love an NCAA tournament where Mt. St. Mary's played in the title game. For me (and I think...
