    2020 TB12: What Does 2020 Hold for 12?

Probably means that Bridgewater enters the pool of possible starters too I would think. So, another name in the FA market.

Huffing & Puffing: Aubrey Huff Not Invited To Giants 2010 World Series Reunion

I got to post 25 and was just about to move on, when I read "So isn't Schilling." And I decided to keep reading on just for the unconventional use of "isn't." It's a very specific and regional usage that made me a bit nostalgic and I was sort of wondering whether there would be a comment on...

Thank you Brock Holt (signs with Brewers)

Heart and soul. Glue guy. Absolutely massive in the community. We were lucky to have had him. He made it fun to watch baseball.

Almost as sad about this as Mookie.

    2020 TB12: What Does 2020 Hold for 12?

The best coach ever is going to do his best to put the best possible team on the field that he can. Either you trust that or you don’t. In any given year you are always going to find teams that are getting major production from players that take a disproportionately low amount of the cap, and...

MLB’s sign-stealing controversy broadens: Sources say the Red Sox used video replay room illegally in 2018

Right. Manfred’s criticism of Cora was his active participation by being on the dugout phone and thus giving players the sense that cheating was management approved. Agree or disagree, that was his concern. Or one of them. And the timing of codebreaker doesn’t change that.

Kevin Pillar to Sox for 1 year, 4.25 million

He will take over the Nunez swing at everything role. You know what they say. You don’t walk your way out of West Hills.

    2020 TB12: What Does 2020 Hold for 12?

Absolutely. It would drum up a lot of interest in the team while they are presumably trying to get tickets sold for their new stadium. It probably would give them more of a chance for prime time games. The timing seems really perfect for them.

    Mookie Betts 2020 FA Watch

It is very hard in baseball to win by paying players what they are worth. One way to pay players less than they are worth is to leverage their desire to get life changing money without risking year to year injury or regression during their control/arb years. Like Alex Bregman. One can really...

Stark: Doing the math on the ‘competitive balance tax,’ and the Red Sox’ motivation to trade Mookie Betts

I have a question that I don't know where else to post but I've wondered about it for a while. Why doesn't Castillo count toward the CBT this year?

Betts/Price to LA for Alex Verdugo, Jeter Downs, and Connor Wong

Just a WAG on a who does it benefit hunch. It could have been the Dodgers, for sure. Seems a bit less likely but who knows. You can really only judge the whole thing anyway by knowing the complete timeline which we never will. If it was Boras who originally leaked the deal while the teams...

Betts/Price to LA for Alex Verdugo, Jeter Downs, and Connor Wong

If the Red Sox leaked their concern with his medical records instead of just negotiating with the Twins quietly, that’s not cool. The Union’s statement and Boras’ actions do seem to indicate some level of accusation about a leak but who knows.

Alex Verdugo, new Red Sox star!

You’ve called women “girls” now twice. Given that this isn’t an episode of Mad Men you really are not doing much to dispel the suggestion above that you hold retrograde views, as the rest of your language tends to suggest. I get it. You want Verdugo to just have been young and dumb and in the...

Alex Verdugo, new Red Sox star!

Female adults are generally called “women.” At least for the last 40 years or so pretty unanimously.
