Rosenthal: Mookie and LAD in agreement: 12/$365

Eh, that doesn't always work out so great.

The Pre-Game Thread: Wk.2 at Seahawks

Yeah, this is an especially fun time of year given the lack of a preseason. All the reports and speculation pre-draft and post-draft on rookies and we now finally get to see them in the Pats' scheme going against NFL players. Taylor was terrific squirting through the line again and again...

The Heat is on, ECF here we come!

I liked the aggressiveness of the dunk - and the high percentage of a finish - so was perfectly fine with JT feeling it out and pouncing. That threat to drive is an important tool in his toolkit and it enables him to get better looks at 3's, etc. As it's been said above it took an...

    2020 Pats: WRs and TEs...Enough?

Unless I've missed it, I don't think anyone is suggesting you can play the game of 2001 and expect to win in 2021. I think the point of the relevant posts was that a promising team always has a lightning in a bottle chance like in 2001. The fact that it was BB as HC the first time might inform...

    2020 Pats: WRs and TEs...Enough?

I was a part of that thread when that card was first pulled - no one should ever go there again! It's lose-lose. I'm with you on the unlikelihood of 5-2 as I don't see it either - it was just a random record that might indicate a hopeful sign going forward. We've got a brutal schedule the...

    2020 Pats: Roster & Beyond (non-QB edition)

$5.5-6 million for strapping down TE's? That sounds rich, but a great window on how much BB values that Chung role. He is a fun listen but there were an awful lot of cuts.

    2020 Pats: Cooking with Cam

I echo Red's hope, but think this too.

    2020 Pats: WRs and TEs...Enough?

In a vacuum I wouldn't want to do the deal of a 2nd for a WR - at least not an older WR. This is, however, a terrible time to determine if we should or should not be deal-making. If the Pats get out to a 5-2 record and some of the new players on D are doing better than expected, the O line is...

    The Giannis Sweepstakes

Tying Bledsoe to GA helps the deal make more sense from the Bucks perspective for sure. I guess Philly could leverage GA’s lack of a contract in a game of chicken. I’d further guess Philly’d blink first.

    2020 Pats: Cooking with Cam

My #1 wish with some of that money is to proactively sign Jackson to a deal much like they did with Jones. Getting cost certainty on a stud young cb is incredibly valuable - and potentially gives you flexibility with Gilmore’s contract.

Ouch. If the C’s had done something like this, the traces and retraces of it would be spotted in MBPS’s threads for years.

    The Giannis Sweepstakes

I agree with you and lovegtm that the ambiguity masquerading as specificity isn’t helpful. Mitchell, Brown are good, although lesser, fits too and only highlighting the top tier muddled things, so thanks for bringing Mitchell up. While I think Tatum specifically would not be on the block due...

    The Giannis Sweepstakes

Well, I wrote “...for a rising young star like Tatum or Simmons,” so I thought it was pretty clear that I didn’t intend “for Tatum or Simmons.” LOL, I guess.

    The Giannis Sweepstakes

The W’s best players are older and well paid - not much upside. Those players are still good enough together so the W’s draft picks will be late round. I see why they’d like a deal, but don’t see the Buck’s incentive - unless you’re thinking of a 3 team trade or the like. I do think the...
