    2020 Pats: Welcome to Camelot

I share your excitement about the potential upside here, but I am very skeptical that this will end up being a long term thing. Of course if he is not healthy, this move isn't going to work out, but it was still a nice low-risk, high-reward move. If he is healthy, he'll be very good. He's...

    2020 Pats: Welcome to Camelot

I suppose a long term deal is not 100% out of the question, but I still think the real "deal" here is that the Pats get Newton for 1 year for cheap, and Cam gets to rebuild enough value for one last big contract, somewhere else.

    2020 Pats: Welcome to Camelot

I for one, would not trade away a Superbowl run to learn more about Stidham.

Nobody, but also a small college sprinting coach.

    I agree with this point.

    2020 Pats: Welcome to Camelot

The other issue with tanking is that players hit free agency so fast in the NFL that, unless you have no talent on hand whatsoever, or are able to tank for just one and only one year, it can quickly get counterproductive. If your M.O. is to let most of your top FAs walk - because they will get...

    2019-2020 Celtics Regular Season Thread

Earlier in the game, Smart took a three, and his defender got into his landing area, causing Smart to land on him and a flagrant 1 to be called on the defender. I think these types of calls are based on recklessness rather than specific intent to harm.

Jayson Tatum Needs His Own Thread

It's a (very) small thing, but I don't recall seeing a player throw a better intentional missed free throw than what Tatum did at the end of regulation.

    Jaylen Brown re-signs for 4 years/$115 million

Yeah, at this point I think you have to look at Jaylen as a cost controlled asset. And I think he’s a good fit for the Celtics, both in his ability to be a sidekick for Tatum, and his ability to guard at least 4 positions.

That reminds how young Jaylen still is compared with Butler.

    2019-2020 Celtics Regular Season Thread

I think the main issue for them was a failure to adjust to the looks LA was throwing at Tatum. Both Tatum himself and the team as a whole needs to learn to handle that better.

Jayson Tatum Needs His Own Thread

On the one hand, it was essentially a free lottery pick. (If you buy - as I do - the theory that Ainge, unable to make a deal, would have just drafted Tatum at #1). But the key franchise-altering thing in this case was drafting Tatum, which would have happened either way. A real...

    Kemba Walker to Boston

I tend to agree with you. It just looks weird that he is sitting out the first game afterward. But I don't see anything sinister.

    NBA All-Kobe game 2020 (all-star game discussion)

Good point - I only had close games in mind. I’d say you don’t worry about game ending on FT if the score isn’t close. There isn’t really going to be drama over ending a 10 point game no matter how it ends. Alternative suggestion: if, when the designated score is reached, the game is within 3...

    NBA All-Kobe game 2020 (all-star game discussion)

One possibility is that if the game would end on a FT, the other team gets a final offensive possession.
