    5/17: On to Texas

Man, that stuff gives me goosebumps. For real. I love how much baseball has meant to all of us throughout all of our lives. I'm so indebted to the team I love, but even moreso to the game itself. Hope always springs eternal, and there's always a pristine diamond at its center.

    5/17: On to Texas

As someone who watched 2/3 of the Sox last year, listened to the other third when work was available, I realize that I'm a baseball junkie, through and through. As miserable and morose as it would make me to take in that 2020 shitshow, I'd be more miserable and morose reading about the result...

Thanks for the SoSH welfare check

    5/17: On to Texas

But baseball is life, even when it's deathly. Truly, just going at to one of my favorite spots to watch my favorite sport, is nirvana, even if my team isn't playing (truly hate baseball-less Mondays, the Saturday to my early week weekend). Didn't mean to encroach, if I did.

I looked up Abreu's minor league numbers. Steady if unspectacular. But I really like what he's shown for the most part. His delivery seems somewhat deceptively quick. Ball can really explode out of his hand, especially when he's pithing up above the swing plane. And he threw in an El Tiante...

5/16- Eovaldi completes the 3 game sweep

Yeah, it's probably part of it. That's what's really frustrating. Whether it's soft contact (like today and some games recently) or hard contact, there's just a lot of contact. You wish he was just able to miss more bats, especially in situations like the second inning. Someone upthread said it...

5/16- Eovaldi completes the 3 game sweep

The BABIP is very high over the last five, probably unsustainably so. With that being said, over his career, he's had a .312 BABIP (.316, .339, and .318 from 2019 to now). He's been unluckier than most, and it's trending in a worse way recently (although the last three years amounts to ~150...

5/16- Eovaldi completes the 3 game sweep

I mean, in his last five games he's toting a 5.5+ era. If something is wrong, it's been in the making for a little while. He's just not that good-- or rather, not as good as we want him to be. I will caveat that his .353 BABIP in those starts has not helped. That's continued today.

5/16- Eovaldi completes the 3 game sweep

It's weird. Nate has swing and miss stuff on a given individual pitch, but he's really not a strikeout pitcher (especially in 2021 baseball context where everyone seems to have K/9 of 9+). Most frustratingly, he'll get two strikes and not be able to put a batter away. He's always going to be...

All for this, but with Eovaldi on the bump

5/15- Perez picks up his first victory on the season

I'm turning this game off preemptively in protest of Brice and to salvage my good vibe.

Awful BB to start the game, martín. Fucking terrible.

5/14- Pivetta notches his 6th win of the season with convincing performance against the Angels

I'm still thankful that Iggy booted that Ellsbury grounder in Game 6.
