Shohei Ohtani’s attorneys accuse interpreter of ‘massive theft’ tied to alleged gambling

At the very least, his agent should have had direct contacts to Ohtani’s Japanese agents/financial advisors just for coordination purposes, or even just friendly ties with his parents as a last resort.

Shohei Ohtani’s attorneys accuse interpreter of ‘massive theft’ tied to alleged gambling

I get being skeptical, but why would Mizuhara agree to be the middleman? There’s no benefit to him. Sure, Ohtani could have him fired as the interpreter if he doesn’t cooperate, but Mizuhara could turn around and immediately expose him as a degenerate gambler.

Shohei Ohtani’s attorneys accuse interpreter of ‘massive theft’ tied to alleged gambling

I wonder if the extra funds would be bonuses from winning MVP, Silver Slugger etc.

Shohei Ohtani’s attorneys accuse interpreter of ‘massive theft’ tied to alleged gambling

I'm sure there are plenty, but it also makes sense that Balelo probably handled Ohtani's account more or less personally. I wouldn't be surprised if all this ultimately led to some formal rules regarding interpreters in the next CBA.

Shohei Ohtani’s attorneys accuse interpreter of ‘massive theft’ tied to alleged gambling

At the very least his US tax returns would be in English and likely his MLB/endorsement contracts in the US. The indictment does say that the financial people reached out about the MLB deposit account, concerned that it would mess up his US taxes if the account was generating interest and/or...

Shohei Ohtani’s attorneys accuse interpreter of ‘massive theft’ tied to alleged gambling

It appears as if none of Ohtani's agents/financial people in the US spoke Japanese, which essentially guaranteed that all communications with Ohtani would have to go through Ippei.

A’s have signed a binding agreement to purchase land for a future ballpark in Las Vegas.

Rivercats used to draw about average 8k per game in the decade pre-Covid, but have struggled after the PCL resumed operations in 2021; averaging a little less than 5k a game. But the team has also finished 4th, 5th and 5th in their division in those years.

Not to defend Mt. Davis by any means but it’s easy to see why the original football configuration wasn’t optimal for the Raiders.

A’s have signed a binding agreement to purchase land for a future ballpark in Las Vegas.

The Kings bought a controlling interest in the team and the stadium in 2022, I assume they'd be on the hook for any upgrades. I'd be interested to see if Vivek Ranadivé is playing a long game here. If the Las Vegas project falls through, maybe Fisher finally gives up and Ranadivé is first in...

2024 NFL General Season News and Notes

I’d be worried about a sophomore slump for both Stroud and Ryans and they have a very tough schedule next year: Home: BUF/MIA/BAL/DET/CHI/JAX/TEN/IND Away: KC/DAL/GB/NE/JAX/TEN/IND/MIN/NYJ

Will you be watching the NFL playoff game on Peacock?

The traditional cable business has been declining steadily for the last decade or so and no one is quite sure how to replace the revenue streams.

Good Morning Football moving to Los Angeles

One of the sweeteners in the SoFI stadium deal was that Kroenke agreed to build new offices and production space for NFL Network. I believe NFL Films is still based out of NJ, probably due to the cost of moving the archives and film processing labs cross-country.
