Let's enjoy memories of the Red Sox of the past 20 years! What were your favorites (team/player/moment/etc)?

The Cardinals were not THAT good. Theo said back in the mid-00’s that playing in the NL in that era was worth 10 wins over the AL. (A 99 win NL team could be assumed to win 89 games if it were playing in the AL.) The ’04 Cardinals pitching staff did not have swing and miss stuff. The Red Sox...

For the benefit of those too young to remember (and those old enough to forget), he was a switch hitter batting right handed against a RHP because he was broken, and hitting right handed was the only way he could keep himself in the lineup.

James Paxton exercises his $4 million option

Fair point. It’s probably also fair to note that government(s) and his agent(s) have received a good chunk (almost half?) of that $40m. $20m is a not insubstantial net worth, but Paxton is still a young man, and a healthy free agent pitcher could expect to do better than $4m after putting up a...

    Happy Yankees Elimination Day!

It was 18 years ago. And 18 years before THAT year, some of us watched our TV’s in horror as first Schiraldi and then Stanley couldn’t nail down the third out of some extra inning game at Shea. So, yeah, some of us (like Mr. Kay) are getting old, and 2004 was a LONG effing time ago.

ALCS 2021: Red Sox vs. Astros Discussion Thread

These are your grandfather’s Red Sox. They are baseball’s Clydesdales. Ricky Henderson’s not running through that door. Johnny Damon’s not running through that door. Jacoby Ellsbury’s not stealing home. Live by the timely HR, die by the untimely GIDP. (And even I would have called for a bunt...
