The Michael McCorkle "Mac" Jones Thread

The weird thing is that when the OL was truly execrable, Jones actually looked okay (not good, but perhaps roughly middle-of-the-road). Once the OL started getting folks back from injury and gelling as a unit, Jones seemed to mentally break down further each week until he became completely...

    Slater's Sunset: An Appreciation

Slater seems like the type who just wants to do his job as well as he can, not sure he'd prefer to do anything special as opposed to go out the way he does every week.

    Game Balls vs Chargers

That's the big question, right? Is BB's (and his assembled staff's) ability to assess talent on the offensive side of the ball as hopeless as it's looked, or is a good chunk of it bad luck and not indicative of future performance? The problem is it seems very hard to tell - even organizations...

This is now: BB and the direction of the Patriots

I don't think this is true - QB is the biggest issue on the team right now and an average QB would be an immediate impact upgrade, but (to me at least) Mac Jones looked to be playing at an average QB level at the beginning of the season when the line was a complete mess - he made several...

How does the rest of the season play out?

I think normalizing this by the number of drives will make a big difference in accounting for the offense and other factors (though not completely, due to starting field position and strategic score-based factors, etc.); looks like this year the Pats are 13th best in points and 12th in yards per...

Someone has to take the hit. Opie Steps up vs Giants

I think it's the second time he's been mad at Gesicki for not going further upfield (the weird alley-oop throw being the other one) - he's winding up to throw deeper and then adjusting at the last minute and throwing bad balls. Again, not that Mac is playing well, but it's totally plausible...

Someone has to take the hit. Opie Steps up vs Giants

But that's actually good decision making (if he's right), right? Sees his receiver made the wrong decision and made it impossible to complete the pass, so threw it out of bounds instead of forcing it.

Someone has to take the hit. Opie Steps up vs Giants

Mac has been terrible, but I think he's also right that often his receivers are running the wrong routes. It's a terrible unit with lots of suck to go around.

Someone has to take the hit. Opie Steps up vs Giants

I don't think Mac was asking for a flag, I think he was telling his sideline that Gesicki should have broken upfield.

This is now: BB and the direction of the Patriots

Nah, their line has been horrible too (Mac often turtles too quickly but look at the pocket he had today against 4 pass rushers vs. the one Minshew had), as have their receivers. But those problems seem more tractable (and the line this year seems really snakebitten injury wise, and might have...

De Panzer continues Week 10 vs Colts

He started his motion before the other receivers were fully set.

Poll: What does success the rest of the way look like to you?

You should watch Evan Lazar's game film review: After Further Review: What Went Wrong for the Patriots Offense, Defense in Loss to the Commanders . There's plenty of criticism for Mac's poor technique and lack of arm, but that's far from the only thing seriously wrong with the offense. The...

    Week 9 Commies vs. Pats

Poll: What do you WANT to see happen with BB?

Also, Antonio Brown flamed out due to off field issues and seems to be a huge piece of shit, but it feels like bad luck that the Pats only got one game out of him while he contributed to a Tampa Super Bowl run, averaging almost 70 yds per game played for them over two seasons (but only 15 games...

This is now: BB and the direction of the Patriots

Andy Reid went 8-8, 9-6-1, 11-5 (eliminated in first round of playoffs), 10-6, 8-8, 4-12 in his last six years (2007-2012) with the Eagles. They've done pretty well for themselves since, but Reid's done even better with KC. Don't get me wrong, if the Pats cut the cord with BB, I'll sign up for...
