Let's talk possible 1st round opponents

Vegas has +1200 odds for the Bruins, Capitals, Penguins, +1600 for the Isles. So the Isles are a little worse on paper, but all of these series are going to be coin flips barring a major injury (Ovie?)

    Bruins Prospect News and Notes

Unfortunately, Lauko was injured today. Sounds like a leg injury of some sort. View: https://twitter.com/BruinsNetwork/status/1384646572617592835

Taylor Hall for 2nd Rd Pick to the Bruins

Agree with all of this. He's not a great finisher who is also unlucky right now and may have a little bit of the yips. I think it's valid to be concerned about his shot. But his numbers still show him as elite at generating offense for other people, that's what they're buying. The Sabres' 5v5...

Taylor Hall for 2nd Rd Pick to the Bruins

Based on what? Are you referring to his game or his personality?

Bruins trade 3rd Round Pick for Mike Reilly

A lot of the player models have trouble accurately valuing good players on terrible teams, but analytics absolutely love this guy. I'm really excited to see how is game translates playing on a functional team.

Taylor Hall for 2nd Rd Pick to the Bruins

This is where I'm at. Hall is having a rough season finishing, but he is a great offensive player. And his upside is still MVP level play. The Bruins have *the* best group of wingers in the league, and I'm not even counting Kase...yet. I think they'd be fine, especially given o-zone draws...

Taylor Hall for 2nd Rd Pick to the Bruins

I think they feel like they owe it to Bergeron/Krejci/Rask to make one more run at it. And I agree with them, this year is the last chance for a few years that they'll be contenders IMO. And they haven't given up anything of value...yet.

    2021 Trade Deadline

I keep going back and forth on it, but I'm leaning towards wanting them to go all in this year. Empty the prospect pool, don't worry about the expansion draft, whatever it takes. The window is closing and I don't see any sort of possible smooth transition to a post Bergeron/Krejci world. Which...

    2021 Trade Deadline

Everoyne always says the Bruins need wingers, and why can't they find wingers. How good do people think other team's wingers are? I wouldn't trade their wingers for any team's in their division. If Kase had been healthy, probably the entire league. Teams don't win cups by overpowering teams on...

    2021 Trade Deadline

As we saw last expansion draft, teams can negotiate exactly who will be selected in the expansion draft and not really worry about protecting players. The fact that some teams got absolutely fleeced by Vegas shouldn't stop anyone from that approach, on principle. That does require teams to have...

    USMNT: Hold My Beer

Another advantage of the 3-4-3, is that Pulisic and Reyna are not true wingers, they both like to play pretty narrow. Pulisic is at his best being able to get into the box almost like a 2nd striker, and Reyna likes to be in the half spaces. If they are both in the front 3, I really like the idea...

    2021 Trade Deadline

Hampus Lindholm would be an interesting target. He's out for a few more weeks with a broken wrist, but signed through next season, so he would not be a rental. Anaheim is awful, and they could be interested in selling him if they don't have plans on giving him a long term deal. I'm not as...

    Bruins Prospect News and Notes

Agree with Dummy Hoy, love to see the fire from Lauko, but also yikes that a 20 year old has to deal with that. The AHL still has a lot of garbage players who are just there to be goons, and it's a real risk to send kids to play there.

    Bruins 2021 Season Thread

Krejci's decline, as I mentioned in another thread, is even more severe when you look at his 5v5 numbers. He's gotten a bump in his PP numbers from playing a lot on the first unit this season. When looking at all of the forwards who have declined, I think it suggests the defense and the system...

    Bruins 2021 Season Thread

The majority of his time away from Tinordi he was playing with McAvoy, who is maybe the best defenseman in the league. He also was getting a lot of D-zone starts with Tinordi. The Vaak/McAvoy combination isn't a huge sample size, but it looks like a significant drop-off from Lauzon/McAvoy with...
