Terrible, game/changing targeting call. There’s no way to make that tackle without helmet to helmet contact. Lawrence ducked.
In fairness, the tOSU player probably gets the benefit of the doubt there if his form isn’t so terrible. He looked like he was trying to demonstrate how Ryan Shazier nearly got paralyzed.

But it’s far from the only bad tackle I’ve seen tonight.

Lawrence fakes an injury to draw a targeting penalty. Supposedly knocked out and comes back after one play throwing darts. God I hate Clemson.

The first hit was good form. I thought the review was going to be for the 2nd guy in, Chase Young, for horse collar or facemasking. That was sort of piling on but not flaggable.

How did he not go to concussion protocol??
He was out on the field - or faked it.

But if that is targeting just tell all players to duck their head at time of tackle. Profit

Two things: 1. Where is Tee Higgins? 2. Give me a break with the ‘ref ball’ on the obvious targeting . The dude led with his helmet and first contact was with Lawrence’s helmet.

I don't think he faked anything. He got absolutely LIT UP on that hit you're referring to.
He was acting like he was struggling with consciousness. How he does not go into concussion protocol is mind boggling. But somehow he comes back after one play throwing darts. He was hit hard, but tried to sell that he was hurt to get the 4th down bailout on targeting.

The call was Dreith level bad and changed the game.

Yeah, it’s one or the other to me. If you call that, then Lawrence needs to be in the protocol for as long as it takes.

I know he got hit in the head, but I thought Lawrence put his hands on his chest like he maybe got the wind knocked out of him.

I didn’t like the call either. No argument from me on that.

But I thought he was laying there like “holy %#*! that hurt!” Which it sure looked like it did.

I'm with BaseballJones on this. He took a tremendous shot on the initial hit, and Chase cleaned it up pretty good. I think he was catching his breath and making sure all of his ribs were still in the right place.

This game for the billionth time demonstrates what happens when you have to settle for FG's instead of TD's in the red zone, tOSU should be up 24-14.

If he got targeted - hit helmet to helmet - and was down on the field , even if was just for wind knocked out, concussion protocol has to kick in.
Hit in head. Laying on field. He needs to go into protocol. But nah, 1 player later all good.
Doesnt add up.

I don’t have a strong rooting interest so I think I’m going to go for Clemson based on how dumb that running into the kicker play was

who cares?
Everyone knows those protocols arnt enforced in big games. They let their best players play regardless.
how is this still surprising to anyone?
