Spurs are playing ok tactically, but making too many unforced errors on the ball where they give it away cheaply. The backline has been excellent, Tanganga very solid.

Sanchez's lack of passing ability is getting a bit exposed by the City press.

The front four have all been poor. Lucas has not offered anything as a center forward. Dele keeps misplacing passes. Son has been dispossessed multiple times. The attack seems to lack a focal point.

Lo Celso and Winks are playing pretty well though, especially defensively.

Lol at Eriksen's "set piece prowess," hitting the first man every single time is prowess of a certain kind I suppose.

I like how the ref is just hanging around on the fringe while this brawl breaks out

Lloris looked like he got Sterling and not the ball. WTF is going on.

I’m glad they don’t call that a penalty but Lloris is being a dink there was no dive there. Just no need to award a spot kick for a coming together going nowhere

If there's such a thing as the keeper getting the ball with his hand so it's not a penalty, then that's what happened there.

Aurier Auriering has been surpassed by Mike Dean Mike Deaning. He has surely MIke Deaned the hell out of this game.

My wife got my daughter this cute little mystery story set at Fenway. Part of the plot featured pine tar. That led to a discussion of the famous pine tar incident (which I happened to be watching when it happened). So I showed Lil O (age 9) the video of George Brett going apeshit and the resulting scrum.

That whole thing didn't quite get that extreme but I thought it was tending that way.

I'd make a prop bet that this game is not finishing 11 v 11.

So I haven't been paying attention enough to how VAR has been done...but when a decision is made via replay to give a penalty after two minutes of game action, is that not added to stoppage time? Felt like between the delayed penalty call and the various kerfuffles afterwards that four minutes was pretty low here.

I must have watched more than a thousand fewer hours of football this year because of VAR. I don’t know how much longer I can do this it’s sucking the life out of this

Shots 11-1. Spurs did ok for the first 20ish minutes and then got mostly played off the pitch for 20 minutes. Jose needs to make changes to get more of a grip on the game. Maybe drop Lucas (who has contributed nothing) and another deeper player like Ndombele or Lamela.

I agree with the commentators; I can understand how Mike Dean missed it in real time but on review it's an obvious red. What's the point of VAR if it's not going to overturn that?
That was worse than the Aubamayeng tackle that VAR turned from a yellow to a red a few weeks ago.

Mike Dean finally gets one right, although it was never really clear what the first yellow was for.

Ederson in cement.
In his defense, it took a big deflection as it looked like Son was looking to put it in the right corner.

Ndombele with great work to find Son and set him up. Start that man!

City defenders are like guys you play in pickup basketball who have never really played basketball before. Just hackers.

18 is the magic number.
Which is why I’m confused by what they said post-match today. Earliest they can clinch is va. Everton? That’s five games from now. Seems they would need one more Citeh loss between now and then.

It was only unclear in the sense that there were 12 players pushing and yelling. Seems obvious they were in middle of it. Neither really complained.

Yeah, if both teams win every game, it would be home against Palace when Liverpool could clinch it.

Which would mean Liverpool would get a Guard of Honor at their next game. At Manchester City.
