Lol my bad- didn’t even look at the headline. Just googled for the number of fight cards they had agreed to.

Will Bruce Buffer pull a Kenny and MC the fights while wearing a mask? Maybe they'll put him in a separate booth or something. Rogan's post fight interviews are apparently being conducted via headphones.

Are they having the same ref for all fights?

No audience right? That’s going to be weird.

I don't think the lack of audience will be too bad. Sort of like the TUF fights, and I've certainly enjoyed enough of those. A big roaring crowd is really nice, but being able to hear the action in the octagon clearly is kind of cool too. Not that there is much talking going on.

Didn’t they already have a no audience event before the full lock down?

Edit: looks like it was the one on pi day in Brasília (Charles Da Bronx vs Kevin Lee)

Different topic.

Because of the lack of sports in my life, I decided to subscribe to UFC Fight Pass and check it out. The fight library is bigger than I thought and includes a lot of regional circuit stuff, which I like. Lots of older stuff that I missed.

I haven't dug into it too much yet, but I'm pleasantly surprised so far.

Oh, and I rarely order PPVs anymore, but it looks like they get posted around a month or so after the PPV is shown live. I like that too.

I don't think I ever would have signed up for it if baseball was being played, but here we are.

Edit: grappling/BJJ competitions too.

I don't know if it is all there, but there is a lot. I think I'm going to binge on Fedor this weekend, who I never saw fight in his prime.

There is a lot of WEC too, though again, I'm not sure if they have everything.

WEC is pretty good. Pride was peak MMA.

I irrationally loved watching Cro Cop, mostly because I quite rationally used to love kicking people in the fucking head.

Man, early UFC was wild. Abbott. Severn. Just brutal bar fights.

Abbott gets a long beating from Dan Severn. Then a few events later Tank drops in for some guest commentary. He said something like “I keep having this recurring nightmare that I was getting raped by Freddie Mercury in the Ultimate Ultimate”

Yes, it was a terrible card though. I barely watched it in the background. Still, it was weird without the crowd, and will be even moreso with legit main event fights tomorrow.

ESPN: Ronaldo Souza out of UFC 249 after testing positive for coronavirus
Souza arrived in Jacksonville, Florida on Wednesday and informed UFC officials that a family member had tested positive. Souza was asymptomatic but was monitored and tested, and Friday the test came back positive after he had already appeared at the weigh-in for Saturday's fight.

The UFC has conferred with Florida state athletic officials, who said the fights can go on as scheduled because the system worked in Souza's case.

Wonder how many people he was in contact with in transit and at the facilities?

Was there a prop bet on any of the fighters getting dq‘rona’d?

I’m confused. What is the problem with the main event? Seems like a good fight.

This is an insanely deep card. Like the two main events don’t super grab me, but there are like 4 shows’ worth of good undercard fights.

This is a fun action fight. I’d never seen the side by side jiu jitsu stuff Mitchell did in the prior fight.

Actually not kissing the audience much.

Price has a chin!

Kinda unfair to give him this time to recover though. Fight was almost over.

Meh, doesn’t matter now I guess.

He successfully did it a few months ago for only the 2nd one in history. The first was by the Korean Zombie.

Price should have won his fight in the first round. He had a choke locked up and he didn’t know how to finish it. He insisted on going one way and he could have gone the other way.

Maybe he can hang a banner in his apartment.

Thought Werdum won that. Huh.
I think they clearly split 1st and 3rd rounds and 2nd was very close, back and forth.

It's fun watching someone who knows what they're doing on the ground. As soon as the guy on the bottom escapes one near-submission, they're already working on the next submission attempt.

Middle of 3rd round looked like an instructional bjj dvd.

Kelly Olynyk is tough since he cut his hair.

I scored for Fab but rd 2 was pretty close

Cerrone is not going to have a fun old age. Kinda shocked he’s fighting again.
