Yeah he was lined up right over the O-lineman who moved after the flinch. It was the exact same play we discussed last year (or the year before...can't remember) where they called that a NZ infraction on the Pats. Same position. Defensive right end lined up right over the O-lineman. Same flinch. Same OL movement. Was he lined up tight on the ball? Also the officiating experts (and the NFL!) on a 50-50 situation will typically back the calling official.
Note that by rule, he is 100% correct. But by philosophy, which by the way the NFL typically does not want made public even to the teams themselves, they typically want that as an NZI for consistency purposes.
EDIT: If it was the Sunday night then the "officiating expert" was Terry McAulay, who usually is as blunt as they come if he thinks there was an error.
Good challenge Payton. That was short.
I thought he was a full yard short at full speed and none of the replays seemed to disagree with me.Seemed like at best he was 2-3 inches short of the 49, but the spot had most of the ball over the 49.

maybe trueMight be greedy, but I think I would rather have the down and burn the 2 minute warning on this play if I am the Pack.
Brees put up good numbers tonight. No shame in losing a shootout to Rodgers. Are the Saints and Drew Brees good? Kamara is a god but he might be hiding just how far Brees has fallen off.
Take out a 52 yard TD to AK that was caught 4 yards behind the line of scrimmage and the 55 yards on the last gasp drive and he has 23/28 for 181 if my subtraction is correct.Brees put up good numbers tonight. No shame in losing a shootout to Rodgers.
Wilson threw for 315 yards 5 tds and 0 ints.
and his qb rating went down
He really threw for 6 TDs and should have 15.Wilson has been absolutely ridiculous so far this year. Through three games:
79-103 (76.7%), 925 yds, 14 td, 1 int, 139.0 rating
Yeah and I have DK Metcalf on my fantasy team. Literally handed away a TD. Great player, reminds me a lot of a young Josh Gordon. But my goodness that one play was terrible. He really threw for 6 TDs and should have 15.
Well, I called it at the time, and now folks are calling for Trysten Hill's head:Damn, dirty play by the Cowboys player. May have just torn up Carson's knee.
Needless to say, if that TD happens, Russ might have ended up with only 4 TDs, not 5. You never know how the rest of the game would have played out if Seattle had 7 more points than they did.Yeah and I have DK Metcalf on my fantasy team. Literally handed away a TD. The guy did a alligator roll, while holding his foot in a vise. It was so unbelievably dirty and dangerous, that guy should be suspended for the year. There was nothing inadvertent about it and football is dangerous enough as it is. A message should be sent.Well, I called it at the time, and now folks are calling for Trysten Hill's head:

If I'm not mistaken, Hill was also the guy who went helmet to helmet on Wilson later in the game, on the first attempt at the 2 point conversion. The ensuing one was converted following the penalty.
And Carson is a RB who will be a FA this offseason. If Hill's alligator roll had hurt Carson worse, that might have been it for a career or would have at least killed Carson's earning potential. The guy did a alligator roll, while holding his foot in a vise. It won't.
If he had the right leverage, he could have snapped his ankle, tibia, or fibia with that BS. Or dislocated his hip. I just rewatched the play on Twitter. I am in awe of the brazen way he did that. Truly dirty. And Carson is a RB who will be a FA this offseason. I just saw it now. It’s insanely brazen. As was the way he head butted Wilson later. That didn’t even look like normal headhunting covered up by momentum. The dude tried to throw a van Damme type headbutt at the QB.If he had the right leverage, he could have snapped his ankle, tibia, or fibia with that BS. Or dislocated his hip. Why did he throw it so quickly? Waiting longer wasn't going to hurt. What a dumbass play call there on third down. Play had no chance.
Honestly, not sure it matters. What’s good is SOMEONE will lose. What's the Pats rooting interest in this game? Hope for a KC win so they're feeling cocky and overconfident going into next week?
That was like the Ravens were a team flown in from Australia that had never seen any film of the Chiefs offense. That was machine-like.
I can't decide, but I think I hate the Ravens more so go Chiefs? But that requires rooting for Tyreek Hill which is a vomit inducing/What's the Pats rooting interest in this game? Hope for a KC win so they're feeling cocky and overconfident going into next week?
