Went to ground a little too easily but he's clear through without the contact, I'm OK with giving it.
I’m going to disagree. Defenders can’t operate on a “no contact” threshold. James didn’t materially impede him. He felt a touch and threw himself to the ground. It’s a garbage way of officiating a contact sport.

Chelsea playing like they have no communication. Crosses going far post on near post run. Set play service to near post when all players are back post.

Chelsea found a copy of Arsenal’s recent “just try a bunch of bad crosses” plan and decided to give it a throw.

Poor by Jorginho - I mean that limp ass hop, never mind the shot.

Arsenal lineup looks... rough. Assuming 5ATB:

Leno
Bellerin - Holding - Mari - Tierney - Saka
Xhaka - Elneny
Smith-Rowe
Lacazette - Martinelli

Aubameyang, Ceballos, Maitland-Niles, Pepe among those on the bench

For Chelsea:

Mendy
James - Silva - Zouma - Chilwell
Kante - Kovacic
Werner - Mount - Pulisic
Abraham

Havertz, Giroud, CHO, Gilmour, etc on the bench
Surprised Chelsea is risking Pulisic against a bottom feeder during such a busy time.
Sometimes tough to break down teams who are in a relegation scrap. Also Lampard was talking about how they've taken their foot off the gas when playing so called lesser teams that they ought to beat. He's here for three points.
Bellerin wearing the armband feels like Arteta is drawing names out of a hat.
Quoted for posterity. Any given...Boxing Day!

Yedlin with the start and the braids. He’s hasn’t had much to do yet. On the other flank, Sterling clowns half the backline and lay off an easy assist.

I keep watching the top of screen to watch Yedlin and all I see if Torres, both arms outstretched and screaming for the ball, being ignored. Welcome to the big time, kid.

Somebody needs to make a Guardiola tactical tinkerer online tool that just randomly comes up with a formation and team selection every time it loads. The only rules are that the formation has to change from the previous match and at least two players have to be out of their natural positions.

If all eleven are midfielders, the tool immortalizes the lineup and shuts down.

Everton grind out a 1-0 win in a monsoon at Sheffield United. Toffees ease the sting of their poor loss in the cup against ManU on Wednesday by going second in the league.

I have to say, I've been really impressed with the progress both Holgate and Godfrey have made. Seemed like McBurnie's chance at the death was as close as United got to getting a shot on target all game, they had reasonable possession but couldn't get anything going moving forward.

I feel for Rhian Brewster, he got his big money move for more playing time, but United are surely going down and he gets zero service

They are both nominally CBs but this back four conceded no goals from open play over four games. The one game that was a departure was the cup game against NanU when Coleman started - the Toffees really got ripped apart and should have lost by 3-4 goals, although the midfield was more to blame.

Begs the question again -what does Carlo do when Digne comes back? The attack is sputtering right now. But Godfrey is an animal in that spot right now.

Everton won 4 league games to start the season by a total 12-5. The totals on this latest 4 game win streak are 6-1. Completely different personalities.

Edit: keeping the typo, and now I want some vindaloo.

To me it looked like he may have stepped on his heel which is why he went down so easy.. that and the defender also hit him with a knee in the thigh... but if it was sort of a 'flat tire' kind of feel to the heel I can see why he went down... and if he did get that content then he is being impeded. A defender should learn not to lunge in from behind because that always ends badly.

And re: Xhaka.. free kicks are about the only thing he can do particularly well on offense.

David Moyes is BACK...

started 5 defenders (none are WBs) 3 DM a winger and a striker. AT HOME FOR FUCKING BRIGHTON.

Brighton have dominated possession 62-38, shots, shots on goal and currently lead.

He basically ran an 8-1-1 out there. It should be a fireable offense but because we're in 10th instead of the 15th we would be in with 1 less win he'll probably get an extension

LOL, hideous equalizer. Cross misses everyone, half of both teams on the ground Lanzini passes from his back to the fullback who passes into the net.

I saw a lot of West Ham fans on twitter vexed about the starting line up. Brighton in front now. Moyes is gonna get a lot of stick for this if his side can't dig out a result.

I'm going to be so annoyed when Moyes gets an extension and we finish in 14th, for the next 2 years running.
