I guess DA said TT and GW could be back for tomorrow's game, which I guess gives them enough players to play. Are we waiting to hear on a negative covid test today?

According to this article, the timeline is roughly as follows:
  • If Tatum and TL both remain asymptomatic and pass quarantine/individual monitored workouts, they could be available next Wednesday
  • Jaylen, Semi, and Javonte could be available Saturday if their contact tracing continues to return negative tests
  • Grant and TT potentially available tomorrow as you said
  • There is also an unnamed player whose availability depends on whether they are in the protocol for contact tracing or a positive test.

So Edwards is a new positive? Or did I miss that?

Were Ojeleye and Theis on the contact list before?

Making more sense why a bunch of cancellations....

On the 10th Ojeleye was on the report but Theis and Edwards were not.

On the 9th Edwards was on the report but Tatum was not.

Those were the last two reports before today.

Here's the Cs potential roster for tonight if no questionables are available to play:

PG – Payton Pritchard – Tremont Waters
SG – Jeff Teague
SF – Marcus Smart – Aaron Nesmith
PF – Grant Williams
C – Tristan Thompson – Tacko Fall

Gwill goes for 20 tonight, I can feel it!

It will be a fascinating game to watch if this is the entire available roster.

How do you envision anyone else scoring when Marcus is taking every shot in the game?

Come on, Marcus doesn't shoot every time. He will pass the ball once in a while.

However, I wonder what the highest USG% in one game? I know Harden has gotten above 60%. BRef doesn't seem to have that filter, at least not for free.

Pritchard damned well better take at least 15 shots with that lineup.

I'd obviously rather see the full lineup but its surprising to me how excited I am to watch these crazy lineups and see how it goes.

I feel the same way, though my guess is that after 1 or 2 of them, we will be longing for the regular squad.

Are you talking one or two quarters? Or games? If its the former, I take the under. That line-up could certainly grift and mug its way to an unlikely victory. But the more likely outcome is a loss that feels more like one from the early part of the Stevens/Smart era.

Certainly the Celtics would be big underdogs in these games without Tatum and Brown, I'm not banking on any unlikely victories.

I think the excitement is more related to seeing some of the younger guys get big minutes, not the results.

But I agree, it's going to likely be short-lived excitement. May be partially driven just by having the Celtics back at all.

I think these games WITH JB would be tolerable, even interesting. I fear that if he indeed ends up being out, they could quickly become insufferable. We'll see. I like seeing the younger guys - but I don't like seeing poor play. So, if we end up with lots of Marcus Smart driving to the hoop, throwing up ridiculous shots and yelling "Ayeee!" in hopes of drawing a foul that doesn't come - YECH.

I feel you and all the Cs fans here on that. I am waiting for the Nesmith breakout game where he goes for 30+ on like 11 shots or something. I understand that I may be waiting in vain...

They did work out Nesmith in person, right? It's impossible that he is as bad as he has looked in games, right?

Rookies are usually bad, and they look worse on good teams who switch everything and run a real offense.
I don't think Romeo looked as much like a fish out of water last season as Nesmith has looked so far this year. I know summer league, training camp, all that. I know all the excuses. Just surprising a bit that he has looked as bad as he's looked, while some other rookies have been able to flourish. Especially one of the big things for him was that he could walk on the floor and shoot threes.

And even worse with fraction of the usual post-draft and preseason activities (and he was limited by injury in his last season at Vandy). Pritchard is the exception here not Nesmith, although 4 years in college definitely helped the former.

Romeo not only had the summer, he also didn't play a minute (14 seconds aside) until the 25th game of the season.
Some guys are quicker than others, some systems and teams are more conducive to stepping in cold. There is no such thing as the idea that a guy can step on the court and hit 3s really, you still need to know how to get where you need to be to get the ball in the right spot to take the 3s.

Nesmith has been a bit disappointing maybe, but with so much against him I'm not worried.

Timelord is back for Wednesday but no Tatum or Arsen.

View: https://twitter.com/celtics/status/1351595166478512130?s=20

#NEBHInjuryReport Brad Stevens says that Kemba’s knee “responded great” following Sunday’s game and he practiced in full today. Robert Williams returned to practice today and will travel with the team to Philadelphia. Carsen Edwards and Jayson Tatum will not travel to Philly.

Stevens added that the possibility of Tatum joining the team in Philadelphia for Friday's game is "to be determined."

Based on the timing of the positive test and not playing Wednesday, does that mean Tatum did end up becoming symptomatic?

Or was paying this Wednesday never in the cards, regardless of how well things progressed?

The way I am reading this, even best case (asymptomatic) scenario, ten day quarantine would have been up yesterday and two days of monitored workouts would be today and tomorrow and earliest clear would be Thursday. But that’s based on how I would count the days...

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.boston.com/sports/boston-celtics/2021/01/12/boston-celtics-covid-19-protocols-timeline/amp
“Tatum immediately went into isolation and will be required to quarantine for 10 days, according to the league’s COVID protocols. Since he tested positive, he will not be allowed to exercise during his quarantine, even in isolation. After he clears quarantine, Tatum will be required to undergo monitored individual workouts for two days before returning to the court as long as he remains asymptomatic. If he has symptoms, or if he is hospitalized, Tatum will be required to undergo three days of monitored exercise before returning.”

ED: Sorry, he tested positive Friday the 8th.

That requirement is two days so, as long as they can monitor a workout today and tomorrow, he should be available for Friday.

They just said on the pregame that he worked out yesterday and today, but they then said it was unclear if he'd play Friday. I'm not sure why it'd be unclear, those two workouts should meet the two day requirement and he should be cleared to play Friday.

Has to be. Been off so shouldnt be an Injury and he was on the Bench so H+S isnt the concern.

I was happy I have a $1 big money bet with my 12yo that he avgs 5+ rebounds a game this year. I do need any 10 min time limit games screwing up the average.
