So, is the takeaway so far that the Big 10 is pretty stinky in the tournament except when it plays my favorite team? (Connecticut)

I had the Zags in the first half and in the game. 9.5 and 15.5.

Both bets looked bad. But both won.(the 15.5 was a miracle win, in fact) That halftime line looked especially enticing to take the dog. 9.5 points in a half? Which is why I laid them. I did have Iowa and that was my worst bet of the entire weekend.

Next up, I think UCLA covers.

Thought Reaves and Harkless particularly played really well for 39 minutes and Oklahoma still lost by 16. Timme was just huge. Awesome seeing Kispert break up a potential fight and being a great teammate.
4 to go.

Nicely done. Like anything else tonight?

LSU looks like a Top 5 team. More talented than Michigan.
They can look really good at times. Great job by Michigan to switch to the zone to throw them off the rhythm. Thought Michigan was the better team the last eight minutes. Should be a good second half.

LSU just got worn out - good effort from them but Michigan has too many horses.
LSU has some very talented players, but not as much depth. Michigan made adjustments and then wore them down, though they still need to adjust to the non-Big 10 refs if they hope to keep winning.

An exhausting game to watch as a fan, but very entertaining.

First NCAAB game I watched almost entire thing and I have a question. Do the Noles always look like they have 6 on D. That was impressive.

GO NOLES!

Always like to count the Sweet 16 by conference:

Pac 12 4
Big East 2
SEC 2
ACC 2
Big 10 1 (1 outta 9!)
WCC 1
MVC 1
Summit 1
AAC 1
Big 12 1

USC is a slight favorite against Kansas. Kansas at + odds looks too tempting. Does that mean take USC?
I think we got our answer. What a beatdown. I don't think even Self's Tulsa and Illinois teams lost this bad.

Man did the non-Colorado Pac-12/10 teams get underrated. 4/5 in the S16, with a 6, 7, 11, and 12. I saw a few USC/UCLA games to catch Walton and they were 1-2 in the conference the whole year seemingly, before Oregon won the title, and deserved better seeds. Didn't understand the USC/UCLA/Oregon seeds at all.

Big 10/14 got overrated, and perhaps the Big 12/10 too. ACC too but we knew that.

You're completely right, but I will admit that I just don't understand what happened to Illinois. With the exception of one game against MSU back in February, they had been playing like a machine and then just collapsed in the second round. It's one thing to lose. It's another to simply not compete.

Just awful.

Their guards looked like they had never seen a defense where they trap everything at the top of the key. They were horrible. And then they broke down completely defensively the last 8-10 minutes; Loyola looked like they were putting on a clinic.

I totally missed that we're moving to Saturday - Tuesday for the Sweet 16 and Elite 8 rounds. I'm sure it's part of Covid protocol, but I have Friday off and was absolutely looking forward to catching some afternoon games.

The Hogs doing things we haven't seen in 25 years, giving me all the feels! Need to give Muss a blank check and let him coach there as long as he wants.
I was hoping that Mike Anderson(they should have promoted him immediately after Richardson) would have gotten the program back to the Days of Nolan, but Muss has me very excited about the program again. I love his style of basketball. I'm pretty sure he's going to get a pretty good raise after their season is over.

I've been told the phrase now in vogue is "All aboard the Muss Bus"

-----

I wonder if any of the 16 left are going to get Covided out the next couple of days?

Certainly aboard the Zags wagon from the teams left, but if they falter rooting for chaos since UNC and UTA are out and Princeton and BC never had a prayer to be here.

Me and some high school / college buddies (we all went to Arkansas, were there when they beat Duke in '94, etc) have a group chat and we love the Muss memes. Mussiah, MussBus, etc. they are all spectacular. We were all hopeful for Mike Anderson as well, but it seemed he didn't have that fire, that chip on the shoulder that both Nolan and Muss had/have. I miss the hell out of having a consistent, competitive basketball team. I lived in AR from 1984-2000 so they were pretty much always good/great during that time. Woo Pig! Now gotta avoid that Oral trap!

I grew up in Little Rock and go back a few times a year to visit my mom and brother. And my son is a huge Razorback fan. My daughter married an Auburn guy and roots for them now. I've disowned her.
It's an added dimension texting with my mom and son during games. The threads are just a bit different with each and I have to make sure which text thread I'm in before I reply.
I'm hoping that Todd Fuhrman says something stupid again before the game on Saturday.

If it is any consolation, the games would not have been on in the afternoon on Friday.

The one thing I like about Sweet 16 on Saturday & Sunday is that all 8 games will be stand alone games.
This.
Nothing worse than having to decide between two good games running concurrently.
And it used to be worse when all the games were on CBS, sometimes they didn't switch from a blowout to a good game.

You could stream every tournament game going all the way back to 2006.(probably earlier, but I remember being at an airport in 2006 and was delayed and watched every game on my laptop)

It has been a very long time since you've had to deal with one game over another.

I just DVR them, and although I hate getting the score on the scroll at the top, the staggered starts usually allows for watching the 2nd halfs, or most of the 2nd halfs, on all games, without spoilage. Just have to watch them in chronological order and be liberal with the FF on the remote. (I personally skip all free throws in the first 38 minutes, all timeouts and reviews, and all commercials.) It helps when you get blowouts in the first round so you just avoid the games (thanks Illinois-Drexel, Zags Norfolk, and Baylor whever it was they played)

When there's 2 games at once, not 3 or 4, it's even easier, but yeah this year will be a breeze.

A touch worried about Loyola tomorrow. When they’ve struggled this year, it’s been when the 3ball isn’t falling. They’re above season average from 3 in the tourney so far (40.5% to 36.8%) and Oregon State defends the 3 well (led Pac10 with 30.1% allowed this year). Hopefully they can keep up the high steal rate and get some easy buckets if the shooting starts to regress.

Loyola 0-5 from deep so far, but incredible defense is carrying them so far. That block by Kennedy? Wow!
